I can’t even believe I am in my 3rd trimester already!? This pregnancy is just flying by! I thought I would do a little 28 week bumpdate with some of the questions I have gotten lately and also share some of my favorite things this pregnancy. This pregnancy really feels a lot like my first except I am WAY more tired from chasing around a busy toddler all day. A lot of my favorite things though were things I also used on my first pregnancy so they are worth the investment. Let’s get started!
How far along are you? 28 weeks as of Sunday. Baby is as big as an eggplant and about 2 lbs already!
How much weight have you gained? So far I’ve gained 12 lbs. I gain most of my baby weight closer to the end. I only gained 22 lbs with Olivia though so I think I’ll end up around there again this time.
Are you working out? Yes and no. No I have not been to the gym in forever, but yes I do a lot of walks with my daughter and we have a German Shepherd so she needs a lot of walks too. I honestly keep so busy every day chasing after my toddler and picking her up all day long so I think I get a pretty good workout in everyday without really trying.
How are you feeling? Overall I feel really good. I am one of those girls that loves being pregnant and I will take on anything bad as long as it means my baby is good and healthy. My only complaints this pregnancy have been the heartburn which has gotten super bad lately, and the insomnia. I feel like I am up most of the night which is hard but I have been taking a nap pretty much every day so that helps.
Any cravings? Pretty much just carbs! I don’t get a big appetite when pregnant, I feel like I get full so fast so I have to eat smaller meals and I’ve been having more snacks. I was having a hard time gaining enough weight in the beginning so I started having a multi-grain english muffin in the morning with peanut butter and a few dark chocolate chips on top and it’s really helped add the extra fat and calories I needed to help with the weight gain. It keeps me full for a while too!
Any aversions? I still can’t stand bananas this pregnancy. The smell just makes me sick. And ketchup too! Yuck! I’ve been having a hard time eating grilled chicken as well as eggs unless they are very well done. I think it’s a texture thing. I am able to eat icecream this pregnancy so that’s been fun!
Do you have a name? We are still talking about a few names but we will be keeping her name to ourselves until she is here with us. We did that with Olivia as well and it made it more special when we announced her birth.
I think that’s about it for the questions I’ve gotten so far other then my favorite pregnancy items which I have included here as well!
Pregnancy pillow Hands down my favorite pregnancy product! I had one for my first pregnancy and loved it so much so I got a new one this pregnancy pretty early on. It really helps with staying as comfortable as possible at night and I don’t think I could sleep without it. Totally worth every penny!
Water cup I have loved this cup for so long! One of my favorite bloggers raved about how amazing it was so I ordered it right away and use it pretty much every day. I can only drink water if it’s super ice cold and this cup keeps my drink nice and cold all day long. It’s 32oz so it’s easy for me to keep track of my water intake each day too and it still fits nicely in my cup holder in the car as well as my stroller so I take it everywhere I go.
Belly lotion I am a strong believer in lots of lotion to keep my belly soft and moisturized to avoid stretch marks. I used this my entire first pregnancy and I did not get any stretch marks so I started using it again as soon as I found out I was pregnant this time. The price is really good and I feel like it works just as good as the expensive brands.
Comfy jammies I have had these for a while as well but they are my favorite while pregnant because they are so soft and comfy. I just ordered another pair because I know they will be really good and nursing friendly once baby is here.
The BEST leggings These have been my favorites for a long time as well but I feel like I wear them so much more this pregnancy. They are very flattering and high waisted so I haven’t needed to invest in maternity leggings yet. They do make these in maternity as well but they are rarely ever in stock.
Favorite tanks- These tanks are the best for layering! They are non-maternity but they are nice and long and perfect for layering under sweaters and flannels. They come in black and white and I have a few of each color to rotate. They are a good buy at $10 too!
Maternity jeans- I feel like you don’t need to spend a lot on maternity jeans for them to be stylish. You really don’t wear them that long to invest a lot into them, in my opinion. Old Navy has a lot of cute options and I just ordered THESE black ones and I’m excited to wear them.
Little black dress- My favorite little black dress works perfect while pregnant too! Typically I’m a small in these but I have the black one in a medium so it can grow with my baby bump. This dress also comes in a short sleeve version that is nice for spring and summer.
Belly band- I have these in black and white and I used them a lot in the beginning of my pregnancy to be able to stay in my jeans as long as possible. Now that my bump is pretty big it’s just more comfortable to be in maternity jeans.
Tums- I had to include my Tums because they are the real MVP of this pregnancy LOL! Seriously though, I don’t think I’d get by without them. The berry flavor is the only one I can eat but they really are a life saver with this terrible heartburn. I even have a little travel container that I refill and keep in my diaper bag because you just never know what will trigger the heartburn.
One of the highlights of 2018 for our family was visiting Dubai and Cape Town. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long for the 2nd part of this post, but I’m finally sharing all the details on the second part of our family vacation. I always get asked why did we go to Cape Town and why would we bring our toddler? I think Cape Town is so absolutely beautiful it really should be on everyone’s bucket list… whether you are traveling with kids or not. If you are traveling with little ones, you should never let that hold you back from doing what you want to do or going where you want to go. You can always make it work and even though the kids won’t remember, you will remember everything and you will have pictures and stories to tell them for a long time! So my last post HERE I talked all about the first part of our trip which was to Dubai. In case you haven’t read the first part of our trip, we traveled from California to Dubai which was a layover on the way to Cape Town.
The flight from Dubai to Cape Town was kind of a long one. It was 9.5 hours and it was a daytime flight which meant Olivia was up most of the time. I always recommend timing flights around your kids sleeping schedule if you can, it just makes things so much easier for everyone. Kids adapt so easily and can sleep pretty much everywhere, but it’s a lot harder to entertain a nearly 2 year old for that long. She had her fussy moments but we got through it with lots of movies, her favorite TV show, coloring, playing with her cars and many, many trips down the isles of the plane haha. I was 14 weeks pregnant I think when we went on our trip so I had to get up and walk a bunch anyway. I will do a whole post soon on traveling internationally with a toddler. I feel like each time we fly far with Olivia I streamline things to make it easier for the next trip. I love sharing tips for traveling with kids so others can see how much fun it can be. Make sure to check on any travel regulations when traveling to other countries you are not familiar with too. South Africa for instance, you need to be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate along with a passport to travel into or out of the country.
We stayed at the Marriott Protea North Wharf and rented a car right at the airport. It honestly wasn’t one of the nicest Marriott’s we have stayed in, but the rooms were really big and had kitchenettes which was convenient when traveling with kids. We also liked the location of this hotel, you have to be careful where you stay because some areas can be a little sketchy, especially at night. Our hotel had a garage with a guard so we knew our car was safe on the property.
Camps Bay Beach
One of the best things we did was take a day long road trip all down the coast and stop at the most beautiful places along the way. Once you get out of the city you truly see the beauty of Cape Town! Camps Bay Beach was our first stop and we could have stayed here all day! With the white sand beaches and cute little cafes and restaurants along the main strip there was really something for everyone. We had a smoothie at one of the local shops then continued on to the next part of our trip.
Chapman’s Peak Drive
The Chapman’s Peak Drive was absolutely gorgeous! It was a small road through the mountains overlooking the water. Around every turn was another turnout to pull over and take pictures. We spent a lot of time during this part of our drive and I’m so glad we did. Make sure to bring local cash with you as there are tolls on this road and they do not accept foreign credit cards, only South Africa credit cards. So if you are not able to pay you wouldn’t be able to do the whole drive.
Boulder Beach was another stop on our road trip that was probably Olivia’s favorite! She LOVED seeing the penguins on the beach and riding the waves into the shore. I was a little disappointed you couldn’t get too close to them but they did have really nice walking paths to lead you out to the beach so the penguins would not be disturbed. There were a lot of little street vendors in this area so if you like that sort of thing this is a great place to look for your souvenirs.
Cape of Good Hope
The Cape of Good Hope it a total bucketlist place to see! It’s the very southern most tip of the African Peninsula and boy was it windy! We had a hard time even standing up but it was so amazing just being there you really wanted to take in the moment. There was a hike up the side of the mountain in this spot too that would have been so amazing to do, it was just way to windy for us to do that with a toddler in tow. There is also an area with a restaurant and gift shop which was a nice stopping point for us. But you really had to be aware of the wild baboons that roam in this area. Some of them are huge and they are very fast and I was actually a little bit scared of them. I included a pic of one that jumped from one car to the hood of our SUV. They were very cool to see but from a distance.
Table Mountain is another must see while visiting Cape Town. You can buy your tickets in advance or you can purchase them right at the desk. We decided to buy them at the desk so we could make sure the weather was good on the day we decided to go. If it’s too cloudy you won’t have clear views from the top. Tickets were very reasonably priced and there is a tram ride to the top of the mountain. From the top the views were absolutely stunning! Pictures just cannot even do it justice. I would recommend booking your tickets on the day of and make sure to get there early, it can get very crowded.
So really my favorite thing we did in Cape Town was a sunset hike to Lions Head. Just a warning this is a pretty serious hike and you should not attempt to go all the way up unless you are an experienced hiker. It can get pretty steep in spots and can be very dangerous. Our plan was for my husband to carry Olivia in the front pack for the hike like he usually does, but when we got here she was flipping out and screaming and crying and would only let me carry her. We tried to put her on my back and she was not having it so I had no choice but to wear her in the front pack. I didn’t want to miss out on this great adventure and who knows if we will ever make it back to Cape Town or not. My husband and I agreed that we would go as far as I felt comfortable and when I was done or if it got too dangerous that we would head back. I will say that the beginning was very hard to get moving being pregnant, carrying a toddler and going for a huge hike but I just stopped and rested a bunch until I got into my groove and then I felt great! There were a few parts of the hike that I had to go really slow and we never made it to the very top which I was a little disappointed in. But the closer you get to the top the steeper and more dangerous it gets and I just did not feel comfortable after a certain point, plus I did not want to be hiking down the mountain after dark for fear of falling or sliding on the rocks. We still got to see the sunset from pretty high up and made friends with some locals so it was such a great night! I got mad props from many experienced hikers for doing the hike carrying a toddler so I felt like Super Mom! This hike would also be really pretty early in the morning too! The pictures just do not do it justice!
Groot Constantia Winery
One of the things I really wanted to do when we planned our trip was go wine tasting! South Africa has some of the best wineries in the world! Since I was pregnant for our trip I wasn’t able to go wine tasting like I wanted, but I did want to buy a bottle to have for after baby arrives this spring. Groot Constantia is one of the oldest wineries in the world dating back to 1685. I did get to take a few sips of a few wines and we ended up going home with 6 bottles haha! If you are planning on going wine tasting on your trip this is the place to go. Everyone was so knowledgable and their wines have won countless awards. There is a beautiful restaurant on sight and it’s for sure a full days worth.
This beach is known for it’s colorful beach huts right on the water so of course we had to stop for some pics. We didn’t spend too much time in this area but we really enjoy just driving around and stopping a bunch when we do vacations like this. We truly had the most amazing time in Cape Town and I would go back in a heart beat!
ITS A GIRL!! We are so excited to add another sweet baby girl to our family this April! I honestly thought the whole time the baby was a girl until my 20 week ultrasound and anatomy scan. We told the tech we did not want to know the baby’s gender but she said “he” twice during our appointment and was acting very funny about us seeing certain areas on the screen, so after that appointment I totally thought we were going to have a little boy! I was actually upset thinking she ruined the surprise for us and my husband kept saying medically they refer to the baby as “he” and it didn’t mean anything but I really thought otherwise. That’s why I was shocked when we opened the box and pink balloons came out! I thought for sure they would be blue. Although it didn’t matter to me either way, I’m just so blessed and thankful to be able to be pregnant again and to be able to give Olivia a sibling.
Some people have wondered why we decided to find out the baby’s gender now instead of waiting until delivery like we had originally planned. I wasn’t feeling as close to this baby as I had felt with Olivia when I was pregnant with her and I wasn’t sure if it was just my hormones, or that I didn’t know who was in there so I couldn’t fully prepare myself for the future, or if it was just that caring for a super busy toddler didn’t leave me any time to really enjoy this pregnancy as I did my first. Plus when Black Friday came around I was sad I couldn’t really buy baby anything… there was no clothing gender neutral that I really liked. So I talked to my husband about everything and really thought knowing if I had a son or daughter in there could really help me prepare for our future and allow me to start shopping for the baby and really getting excited about it and he was totally on board with whatever I wanted to do. But we wanted to do it in a fun way to include Olivia and since she loves balloons and the beach we figured why not do a fun little reveal for her there. It was honestly so cheap to create and a good friend took some pics for us so we could keep things as casual as possible. I’m so glad we have these little special memories to look back on and I am SO excited to be a girl mom!
I am sooooo late to the #Nsale party this year… but better late than never right?! I was in Florida last week visiting family and took a much needed social media break to spend time with everyone. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opened to everyone on Friday and today was the first chance I had to make it in. I still love trying on things in the store to make sure I LOVE them before I actually buy them. My how things change after you have kids lol! The one thing I do love about Nordstrom is their amazing return policy. So if you have your eye on something online and it doesn’t fit or you change your mind you can easily return your items for free.
I was surprised at how much good stuff was still available at my local store. I was able to grab a few good basics that I can mix in now and also wear in the fall. I was disappointed that a few of the dresses, tees and shoes I had my eye on were already sold out or not available in my size so I may be placing another online order soon! Hope you like some fall outfit inspo with lots of great basics. Also including all pricing and sizing info as well! Happy Shopping!

Ok, I could totally live in this outfit everyday! It’s soooo comfy! These shorts are pretty much the best thing ever! Honestly, if you haven’t tried the paper bag shorts trend yet don’t wait any longer. They are so comfortable and there are so many different colors and prints out there. I love how they are high waisted so they are are perfect for chasing around a toddler all day but you can also easily dress them up for date night by wearing a body suit and adding some heels. I feel like olive looks great on everyone and these are on sale right now for less than $30! They do run large, I’m wearing a size XS and I’m typically a small in Express.
We are heading back to Scottsdale this weekend for a week and it’s going to be SO hot! Living in San Diego we are not used to temperatures over 100 degrees. I’m excited to be back though and we will make the best of the heat. I will definitely be bringing these shorts with me!
How gorgeous are all these flowers!? Seriously hard to believe this place is real! I’ve always wanted to visit the flower fields in Carlsbad but for one reason or another, we’ve never been before! So this year for Mother’s Day my hubby asked what I wanted to do and I said right away the flower fields! Oh my gosh it was sooooo beautiful! It really was the perfect day with my little mini and all these flowers! If you’ve never been before make sure you go! They are only open from March through early May and Mother’s Day was actually the last day this year. It was VERY crowded and we got there just after opening time, but still so worth it! I highly recommend! Everyone was so nice and everyone kept wishing each other a Happy Mother’s Day. It was very sweet.
I decided to dress Olivia and I pretty casual because it was chilly and there was so much dirt but I kind of wish I would have dressed us up a little more and worn dresses for pictures. There’s always next year I guess. My outfit is one of my go-to looks, so comfy and casual but still trendy. These jeans are my favs and are under $70. And I’m always reaching for this Free People top. It’s nice and flowy and white and can be dressed up or down easily. It’s so comfy. It does run really big though, I’m wearing an XS for reference.
This month my hubby and I celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary! That’s so crazy to say! It feels like yesterday we were just planning our wedding. We’ve actually been together for 15 years though so that’s really a long time! We’ve pretty much grown up together and I wouldn’t have it any other way! We have so many amazing memories together over the years! Each year we try to do something special for our anniversary and this year we decided to do a weekend road trip somewhere we haven’t been before. Typically we would drive to LA or Vegas or even SF but since we’ve been to all those places so many times before we decided on Scottsdale in Arizona. Scottsdale is about a 6 hour drive from San Diego and that was about the driving limit for us for a weekend trip. We wanted to make sure we did something fun for Olivia this trip too since it seems like most of our vacations are in the cities and she’s stuck in her stroller most of the time.
Roadtrips to me are so much easier than flying when you have kids. You have so much more room to take anything you may need and you don’t have to worry about weight limits on bags or how many bags you can take. I was actually able to take my full size stroller and we took a cooler and snack bag with a ton of snacks and drinks for the trip. Olivia does so good in the car too. I had a few of her favorite toys in her carseat with her and we played some music that she loves including the Frozen soundtrack. My hubby was a good sport with that haha! We also made sure to stop somewhere half way for lunch and get out and stretch. By the time we got to Scottsdale and checked into our room we changed and wanted to go explore a little of downtown. There were so many trendy bars and restaurants to choose from! I couldn’t get over all the unique options. We are not a fan of chain restaurants so it was nice to have so many local options! After dinner we just walked around a little bit before heading back to our room for the night.
We decided to spend most of the day Saturday at the Phoenix Zoo so Olivia would have some fun and be able to walk around a little too. We bought our tickets right at the gate and I think they were only $20 per person, kids free of course. We packed lots of snacks and drinks in our bag so we didn’t have to buy much there. Food in the parks is always so expensive and it’s not a lot of healthy options either. It was so much hotter than we thought it was going to be. I think it was 95 degrees when we were there and it felt like the desert for sure. We stayed for a few hours walking around but a lot of the animals where hiding because of the heat, so once we got through the park we headed out. We planned on going to the pool for a little before dinner but after being in the sun all day we all needed a little rest in the AC. For dinner this night we actually had a gift card for Cheesecake Factory so we found one at the Kierland Commons outdoor mall. This part of the city was so much more kid friendly and there were so many good stores to go to. After dinner we walked around for a while and we all had icecream at one of our favorites, Shake Shack. Olivia made friends with some other kids that were playing and it was such a fun little family night. I highly recommend checking this place out if you have kids. There are also a lot of unique local restaurants here too.
I would highly recommend Scottsdale whether you are going with kids or not. There is so much to do! We can’t wait to go back. I would like to go a little earlier in the year next time so it’s not so hot. I think April is pretty much the cutoff before the weather gets too hot. All summer it’s over 100 degrees and that is just way too hot for us. There are a ton of really nice hotels close to everything and every sort of restaurant you can think of. There’s really something for everyone!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Can you believe it’s 2018?! I swear the older you get the quicker time flies haha! This year I made the resolution to start taking better care of myself. To get outside more, to eat better, drink more water and just get back into really good shape. I think it will make me feel better which in turn will make me be a better wife, mother and friend. I used to be a total gym rat and I loved to work out so much. During our whole struggle to get pregnant and then during my pregnancy I kind of lost that part of me. It’s crazy what infertility struggles can do to you both mentally and physically.
I’m so ready to get myself back on track and start taking better care of myself. I’ve been working out regularly for a few weeks now and I already feel so much better. Sometimes it’s just a few changes here and there that can make a huge difference at the end of the week. I’m sharing a few tips here that have worked so far for helping me get back on track. Hopefully they will help you too!
1. Get moving- So this is probably the biggest tip! Even if you don’t like the gym or if you are intimidated by the gym and all the equipment, just start walking outside. I walked miles and miles every day when I was pregnant, even when I was 41 weeks pregnant I was still walking several miles a day. It just makes you feel better. Now I run a few miles a few times a week with my baby and dog in tow! I get to the gym when I can for weights but between my husband’s crazy work schedule and not having anyone to watch my baby for me I don’t beat myself up if I don’t make it to the gym.
2. Eat this not that- I’ve tried to start substituting a lot of foods I used to eat for healthier options. Cutting processed carbs always makes me feel better and less bloated. I still love eating healthy carbs like sweet potatoes and brown rice though. We usually do pizza night on Friday night. We buy the dough from Trader Joe’s and make our own pizzas. Recently I found a cauliflower crust and now I make my hubby a regular pizza but make myself a cauliflower crust pizza with a little cheese and veggies. It tastes just like regular pizza but without all the guilt. Even my 1 year old loves it! I also substitute spaghetti squash for pasta whenever we have spaghetti and lettuce wraps in place of tortilla shells when we have fajitas. I also like to throw in some spinach to my eggs or shakes to add in some extra greens wherever I can.
3. Buy new workout clothes- Who doesn’t like working out when you have cute workout clothes?! HAHA! Honestly I don’t spend a lot on workout clothes. I have a pair of really good Lululemon pants that I love and I just got THESE which I like even better… and they are about half the price. I invest in my workout pants because they make me feel better. As far as workout tops and sports bras, I get 90% of mine at Forever 21. They have so many cute workout clothes at really cheap prices. When they start getting icky just throw them out and get new ones. I linked up a few really cute options too! I just got THESE shoes for running and oh my goodness they are AMAZING! So lightweight and comfy, I want to wear them all the time! They are on sale for less than $60 too!
4. Make a new playlist on your phone- I love me some Adele but there’s nothing worse than being 3 miles into your run chugging along and then an Adele song comes on and messes up your whole flow. It’s best to do a playlist of songs that get you pumped up and shuffle them during your workout. If you plan on working out for 30 mins, make sure your playlist is at least 30 mins long. I love new songs and classics. A few of my favorites that pump me up are Nirvana (Smells like Teen Spirit), Fall Out Boy (Beat It), Metallica (Enter Sandman), Dillion Francis (Get Low), and Britney Spears (Work B**ch)
5. Meal plan! My hubby and I have been meal prepping for years. We used to prep all our meals for the week on Sunday so everything was already ready to go. Since I stopped working to stay home with my baby I try to have more fresh meals prepared for dinners. Everyone gets tired of leftovers. Before I go to the grocery store each week I write down what we’re going to have for dinner every night. I try to make at least 1-2 meals a week that will last us 2 nights. One of my go-to meals is crock pot chicken fajitas. I also love veggie chili. I’ll share some easy recipes here soon too.
6. Drink water! I’m so guilty of this. It’s easy to get busy through the day and forget to drink enough water. I can always tell if I’m not drinking enough because my skin gets dry and itchy. I started using a 32oz water bottle and it’s my goal to drink at least 2 of them in a day… 1 whole bottle before noon and another one in the afternoon. Ideally working out you should drink even more, but for now I’m trying to get myself back to drink at least 64oz of water a day. It’s best to have a cup that shows the ounces to help keep track.
7. Include the family! My last tip is to get a workout buddy, or include your family! Having a workout buddy makes working out more fun. My hubby and I always used to go to the gym together. Some days we would do weights or cardio together but other days just being in the gym at the same time is enough. It’s the same with running outside. My husband’s pace is so much faster than mine and he’s training for a half marathon so his runs are much faster and longer than mine. I use my BOB running stroller and take my dog and baby and we have our own little workout group. My pup has done so good keeping with my pace and she’s such a good workout buddy. It’s hard to tire out a German Shepherd but after our runs she is so much more relaxed throughout the day so I know it’s beneficial for her too.
So, it’s taken me FOREVER to get this post together! I’m so sorry for anyone that has emailed or DM’d me for Paris travel recommendations over the past month! We went to Paris in the middle of November and with the holidays and my baby’s first birthday time has just really gotten away from me. We have a few more trips coming up so I wanted to be sure to put together a travel guide for anyone that is planning a trip to Europe with little ones before I get sidetracked again.
This was my husband and I’s 4th time back to Paris but the first time bringing our little girl with us. People always seem surprised when we tell them we took our 1 year old with us on such a far trip but it really was so much fun experiencing another side of this beautiful city! And we love showing our daughter the world! I’m also working on a post all about traveling with a toddler internationally. I did a post HERE all about traveling with a baby, but traveling so far with a busy toddler is a game changer haha!
PLANNING YOUR TRIP:
We have never used a travel agent on any trip we’ve ever been on. I really don’t see the need to do that. We love figuring everything out ourselves and being on our own schedule. We always stay with Marriott wherever we travel since they are all over the world. I feel like once you get status with them they really take care of you and we always get upgraded rooms, early check in, late check out, free breakfast, etc. I always recommend everyone to take full advantage of hotel and airline reward programs. Always try to stick with the same airlines and hotel chains whenever you can. You’d be surprised how quickly the points add up.
We always check out multiple websites to find the best airline deal if we don’t have enough points accumulated for a free flight. It’s always good to check out multiple airports too if you live close to a larger airport. This trip we flew out of LA which is about 2 hours from San Diego but we saved several hundred dollars per ticket flying this way. We always stay with Marriott and in the past we have stayed near the Eiffel Tower since that’s a pretty central location. But this time we wanted to experience a different side of the city so we stayed near the Louvre. Getting from one side of the city to another is always super easy with the metro. You can also do Uber but traveling with a 1 year old we didn’t want to take Uber and have to carry around a car seat all day so usually the metro was our best option for getting across the city.
WHAT TO DO:
So I could go on and on about things to do in this gorgeous city! I feel like every time we go we return to our favorite spots but we always try to add in new things too. Here is a list of our favorite things to do while in the city….
Eiffel Tower- this is a MUST DO if you are going for the first time. The views are stunning both during the day and at night. During peak season and holidays the lines can be super long so I recommend buying your tickets ahead of time
Pictures at the Tracadero- this is the best spot for pictures! It’s best to go first thing in the morning to beat the crowds but it really is beautiful any time of day including sunset. If you have it in your budget I strongly recommend getting a professional photographer to capture images you will treasure forever! There are so many good photographers on Instagram and you can contact them for rates and availability. I did a post HERE all about our photographer and our family pictures.
Sunset cruise on the Seine- So beautiful seeing the city from this viewpoint. They have dinner cruises as well but I love just taking in all the beautiful sights and taking tons of pictures.
The Louvre- This museum is unbelievable! It is full of history and so big you really need to set aside a whole day and you still won’t get through it all.
Shopping at Lafayette Galleries- This is a huge mall that has floors and floors of shopping and food and clothing and designer items. When we were there they had the most beautiful Christmas display in the windows and a gorgeous tree inside the mall.
Take the train to Versailles We did not do this on this trip to Paris but we have done it previously. Train tickets are cheap and it’s a fun day to get outside of the city and view the palace where Marie Antoinette lived and the stunning gardens and fountains.
Disneyland Paris- We decided to go here on our baby girl’s first birthday to make it a memorable day for her. Even though she won’t remember, we will have pictures and videos to show her when she’s older. Make sure you buy your tickets ahead of time if possible. They are so much cheaper and you won’t have to wait in the long lines. Getting to Disneyland Paris was super easy too. It’s only about an hour train ride from the city and the train drops you off right at Disneyland.
Walk down the Champs Elysee- This is the most beautiful street! There is so much shopping and tons of restaurants in this area. It’s a little too touristy for us as far as restaurants so we never really eat here but it’s still so much fun walking down the street and taking in all the sites!
Notre Dame- We go here every time we come to Paris! It was especially beautiful being here in the fall with all the gorgeous leaves.
Visit the Musee D’Orsay- We still have not made it here yet. It’s been on my list every time we go to Paris but we always seem to run out of time to make it here. It looks so beautiful though!
Walk the Tuileries Gardens and Luxembourg Gardens- These are in separate parts of the city but if you are in the areas they are gorgeous and a nice break to relax and really take in the beauty of Paris
Take a drive to Normandy- If you love history like I do this is such an amazing day trip. The beaches of Normandy were absolutely beautiful and the museums and monuments… just everything was so moving and very emotional. You can rent a car very easily near the L’arc de Triomphe and it’s about a 2 and a half hour drive to Normandy. You go through the French Countryside on the way and it’s just a very beautiful drive. We did this on our last trip to Paris about 2 years ago.
WHERE TO EAT:
I’m probably the wrong person to ask for restaurant recommendations sorry! I do not like spending a lot of money on food when on vacation, I would rather spend money shopping or sightseeing. Plus we are more snackers when in Europe because we like to try a lot of the local foods and little local restaurants. Here are a few of my favorite places to eat…
Crepes, Crepes, Crepes!! I seriously dreamed about these yummy treats weeks before our trip! They have little street vendors all over the city and they make them fresh right in front of you. They are so yummy and perfect for grabbing while on the go. The best ones are right at the Eiffel Tower.
Local French Bakeries- there are no specific bakeries that I can recommend but there are several really good ones on the little side streets between the Eiffel Tower and the Tracadero. It’s always best to get off the main streets and really go into the little local neighborhoods. That’s always where you can find the best bakeries and cafes. Be aware that they don’t always speak English so always be sure to greet them and always say please and thank you… it goes a long way!
Le Chalet Savoyard- located in the 11th arrondissement, this is hands down our favorite restaurant in Paris. If you’ve never had raclette you are missing out. It is seriously sooooo good! They heat a half a wheel of cheese right at your table and you eat the cheese with potatoes, vegetables and meats. Everything is so good and so French! I highly recommend! Make sure to have your concierge make a reservation for you. Lunchtime is the best time to go as it’s less crowded.
Galleries Lafayette- There is a whole floor of the mall with all sorts of foods, desserts, pizzas, etc… one night we just grabbed a pizza and bottle of wine and took it back to our room for dinner. There are so many good dessert places here as well to grab a sweet treat.
There were actually many nights this trip that we grabbed some small pasteries or sandwiches around dinner time and took them back to the room to eat dinner. It was tough being on the go all day with a 1 year old and sometimes we just wanted to go back for the night and rest and have Olivia walk around and get out of her stroller.
There is just honestly so much to do in this beautiful city one post is probably not enough. So if you’re planning a trip anytime soon and need any sort of recommendations or have any questions please feel free to ask. I LOVE this city and can’t wait to go back again!
It’s that time of year again! Christmas is just a few days away and I have a feeling this will be the best one yet! Last year Olivia was just a few weeks old so we spent the day in San Francisco in our tiny little apartment FaceTiming with all our family back east. This year Olivia is walking and running everywhere and into everything! It will be so much fun to see her getting into all her presents.
I knew when we first started planning our Paris trip that I wanted professional family pictures done. I decided to go with a holiday theme due to the time of year so we could use them for Christmas cards. Of course we had to get all glam because we were in Paris! I LOVE the way they turned out! Such a beautiful family keepsake. A lot of people ask me how we found our photographer in another country. Well, I follow a few different Paris photographers on Instagram and I reached out to them to check on pricing and availability. Several took days to even answer my email and others I never even heard back from. I heard back from Brian at French Grey Photography right away and his pricing was very reasonable. He also has kids of his own so he knows how unpredictable they can be and was very patient with Olivia during our shoot. I highly recommend Brian if you are looking for a great photographer for family photos or even wedding or engagement pics. I absolutely love our photos and will cherish them forever! Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
JACKET: Topshop (similar HERE and faux leather option HERE) | JEANS: Express | BELT: Gucci | SCARF: BP (only $19!) | SWEATER: BP | BOOTIES: Express (old) similar HERE | SUNNIES: Quay Australia | LIPS: Soar liner | BAG: Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis
Take me back to the beautiful Champs Elysee s’il vous plait! Oh how I love Paris! I’m already counting down until I can go back again! I’m soooooo in love with this city! This was one of my go-to looks on our trip. You can never go wrong with ripped denim, a leather jacket and a pop of leopard. This scarf is the best! It’s only $19 and it literally goes with everything!
Pretty much the whole time we were in Paris I wore the same things over and over again. It’s actually really hard to plan out outfits for 10 days with fall or winter clothes because they take up so much more space in your suitcase than summer clothes. It’s even harder when you have to pack for yourself plus a 1 year old in the same suitcase AND stay under the weight limit LOL! In the past when my hubby and I traveled through Europe, we would always take only a carry on suitcase each and he would take a backpack and I would take my Louis Vuitton Neverfull. When you jump cities you have to pack light. You always want to keep your bags close on the train and the rule of thumb is you bring it- you carry it. I made that mistake before bringing too many bags and boots and liquids and it was just so heavy and so hard to carry and I never ended up even using everything. So the last few trips we took before Olivia was born I felt like I really narrowed things down to what I REALLY needed to take vs what I ACTUALLY wore. You would be surprised what you think you need to bring vs what you actually end up wearing or using.
I’m still trying to master packing for my baby though! I know I took way too much baby stuff with me on our trip but I’m still learning the best ways to travel with a baby. I feel like I learn more and more with every trip we take! More on that in another post though. So with this trip, I took 1 check bag for Olivia and I plus I had my purse and diaper bag for my carry ons. I had to take as little as possible for myself to make sure there was enough room for Olivia’s stuff and stay under the weight limit. The first thing I always do when I pack for myself is lay out everything I WANT to take with me on our trip. I include all the jeans, sweaters, tees, boots, hats, etc. It’s always a TON of stuff! Then I start eliminating things from my stack. You really don’t need 2 of the same color jeans…. you can just take 1 and wear them again with a different color sweater. Same with boots. In the past I had to take black boots, brown boots, booties, etc… it’s just too much stuff. So now I try to either stick with brown or black and kind of plan my sweaters from there. You can always change up your look with a different scarf, beanie or even lip color. Those things take up so much less space than taking another jacket or a different sweater for each day. So basically this is a run down of what I took in my suitcase. Everything could easily be mixed and matched and I didn’t feel like I wore the same thing every day.
JACKET: I really debated on taking my leather jacket or taking a long warmer jacket. Since we were still going in fall I ultimately decided on just taking my leather jacket. It’s nice and thick and really good quality. Definitely worth the investment!
JEANS: So I always want to take more jeans than I actually need. So I narrowed it down to my FAVORITE pair because they have rips in the knees and can be dressy or edgy depending on how they are styled. I also took my favorite black jeans because they go with EVERYTHING!
SWEATERS: You should have seen the stack of sweaters I really wanted to take LOL! But when you think about it, a few simple and basic sweaters go a long way! I ended up taking a basic black and cognac sweater, mine are old but THIS and THIS would be great options! Plus a blush pink sweater and my favorite fall sweater. They all look good with either regular jeans or black jeans so you’re set!
SHOES: I always make the mistake of taking WAY too many shoes and then never wear them. This time I wore my blush Adidas sneakers on the plane and packed black booties and my OTK Stuart Weitzman boots. I also had to take some nude heels since we were getting holiday pics done. I ended up not even wearing my OTK boots because we walked at least 5 miles each day and I just couldn’t do the heels haha!
SCARVES: So I only took THIS super neutral one and THIS one for a pop of leopard. They both went with every single sweater I brought and I was so glad I had them. I especially wore the neutral one since it was so cold.
HATS: I only took 2 beanies with me…. a black one and a cream one. Again, they both went with everything and actually saved me a day or two of not washing my hair which was a plus too!
LIP COLORS: I’m not a huge fan of lipstick honestly…. I prefer THIS lip moisturizer that is a hint of pink. I feel like lipstick never stays put on me all day and it makes my lips so dry but I’m no beauty expert. I did take a red lip (Ruby Woo liner and lipstick) plus a neutral pink (Soar liner and Snob lipstick).
BAG: I am obsessed with my Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis! As you probably see, it’s the only bag I ever use anymore! I always used to use a big purse until I got pregnant, then I couldn’t stand carrying around a heavy bag and I just wanted something small but still stylish so I could wear it cross body or on my shoulder. I love this one so much and highly recommend! I did take my Louis Vuitton Neverfull too but never ended up using it for a purse, only as my carry on for the plane.
ACCESSORIES: I took 1 pair of gloves (these are the BEST!), 1 pair of sunglasses and 1 belt
I think that’s about it! You really don’t need to take too much to make a bunch of different looks. It’s all about bringing things that can be easily mixed and matched! Sorry this is such a long post but I always get asked how I pack so light for a fall or winter vacation so just thought I would share everything that has worked for me over the years! I’m working on a post all about traveling with a toddler as well as a Paris travel guide!
This sweater was hands down my favorite fall sweater purchase! I am in love with the color and I have worn it so much already! It comes in 3 other colors and is a steal for only $39. I’m going to order the ivory color too because I wear this one way too much! I’m wearing a size small for reference and I really like the fit. It’s loose but not too oversized. I always get so many compliments every time I wear it too.
These pics were taken at the Trocadero in beautiful Paris! We were trying to get up super early to beat the crowds and get some nice outfit pics but unfortunately Olivia had other plans. She was not sleeping well the whole trip so we had some very long nights and decided to sleep in a little bit and rest when we could. By the time we got here it was already super crowded but we didn’t let it deter us and we still got a bunch of really nice pics. We tried to have some strangers get a few nice pics of the 3 of us but unfortunately either the background was cut off or we were all blurry, so we only ended up with 1 good pic of the three of us haha! Better than nothing I guess. It’s always so hard relying on strangers to take your pics. I always recommend going out super early to get pics before the crowds. Go out as close to sunrise as you can, especially in Paris. It sure is beautiful!
Blush is such a pretty color to wear all year long but I especially love it in the fall! There’s just something about a blush sweater. So pretty! I had to have this one as soon as I saw it at Nordstrom. These sleeves are so amazing and it’s so light weight. I love lighter sweaters that can be worn alone through fall and layered nice and cozy through winter too! I don’t like to spend too much on sweaters since I live in SoCal and it doesn’t get too cold here. This one was only $39 which was a perfect price point for me too.
These pics were taken down a side street in Paris. We had to stop for a few quick pics since the leaves were so beautiful. I seriously couldn’t get over how beautiful Paris was in the fall. I am soooo in love with this city!
SCARF: FreePeople | JACKET: TopShop (mine is old, similar HERE and faux leather option HERE) | JEANS: Express (50% off!) | BELT: Gucci | BOOTIES: Express (mine old but newer model HERE and 50% off!) | SUNNIES: Quay Australia | BAG: Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis | LIPSTICK: MAC in color Ruby Woo
I miss Paris soooooo much already! I still have about a million pics to go through so sorry in advance for the Paris overload! Everywhere you look is so picturesque! I have been blessed to say I’ve traveled all over the world and still Paris holds my heart. I’ve been lucky enough to go back to my favorite city 4 times now and I can’t wait to go back again. I love it so much! This was my first time visiting in the fall and I cannot believe how gorgeous the city was! It was the perfect amount of cold too!
These pics were taken at the beautiful Louvre. We did not go inside this time, we’ve been before, however the grounds are so beautiful I always love coming here for pictures. The architecture is out of this world. I loved being able to wear my cozy Free People scarf finally. The weather in Southern California has still been way to warm for my scarves so it was fun playing dress up on our trip. I highly recommend this scarf and it comes in 5 different colors. You can never go wrong pairing black and cognac together either. I pretty much live in these black jeans all fall and winter long. They are part of Express’s Thanksgiving sale and are 50% off this week! Now is the time to stock up on all your denim!
The holidays are seriously so much more fun with a baby around! I’ve always loved Halloween and dressing up and seeing all the little trick-or-treaters but now that I have my own little baby it’s even better than ever! I’m just sharing a few quick pics here. I really wanted to do a family theme for us this year but just couldn’t get any good ideas together while still keeping a good budget. I didn’t want to spend a lot on costumes since we have Olivia’s first birthday party this weekend and we leave for vacation next week. This Cinderella costume worked out just fine! It was a good price and looked so cute on! We saw so many big girls out trick-or-treating in their princess costumes so I know Olivia loved looking like the big girls. It was a little chilly last night so I through on some tights and a long sleeve onsie and it was perfect! I bought these little cat ears at Target one year cheap and they always make a cute outfit in a pinch. I’m already looking forward to next year and what we can be as a family. I saw so many blogger babes in adorable family outfits and can’t wait to join in the fun next year! What are your favorite family costumes?
SWEATER: Express | JEANS: old, similar HERE | BOOTIES: Hinge | SUNNIES: Quay Australia | LIPLINER: MAC (in color Soar) | OLIVIA’S TOP: Baby Gap | OLIVIA’S JEANS: Baby Gap | HEADBAND: Nordstrom | OLIVIA’S BOOTS: H&M
Nothing says getting into the fall spirit like a trip to the pumpkin patch! It was so much fun seeing Olivia at the pumpkin patch this weekend. She loved climbing on the hay baskets, looking at all the pumpkins and seeing all the other kids there. I love seeing her little face get excited about the smallest things that we take for granted. It really is so fun seeing the world through her eyes! I’m looking forward to this being a family tradition every year!
We had to pretend it was fall and dress in some cute fall clothes. It was really 80 degrees HAHA! But when we look back on these pics we’ll forget how warm it was while taking these. My sweater is a new favorite! I can’t wait to wear it for real once the weather really cools down. It’s a super thick and cozy material and I just love the olive color. It also comes in 3 other fun colors. It does run super big, I’m actually wearing an XS and it’s still oversized on me. I love it though! Super cozy for cooler weather.
So lately I’ve been missing my life in the city. As you may or may not know, my family moved from San Diego to San Francisco when I was about 6 months pregnant with Olivia. It was a very tough decision for our family but ultimately it was the best move for us at the time for my husband’s career. After living there for a year my husband was able to get a job with a new company which brought us back to San Diego and back to our home. Don’t get me wrong, we have a beautiful home and it’s nice having a yard for our pup, but there was something so fun and spontaneous about living in a city like San Francisco. There were so many neighborhoods with different vibes and you could eat at a different restaurant every day! I really miss walking everywhere especially. Life back in suburbia is more driving everywhere and back to chain stores and restaurants LOL!
So I thought I’d do a little post on my favorite things to do in San Francisco in case you ever make it to the city. There is seriously so much to do I could go on and on but I’ll include a bunch of my favorites here in no particular order.
1. Battery Spencer– The Golden Gate Bridge is a MUST SEE when visiting SF! You have to drive across the bridge and walking it is so much fun too! But the best viewpoint for pics is Battery Spencer. This lookout point is located on the north side of the bridge and gives you the perfect angle. The pic above is from the lookout. There is a road that will take you up the mountain for all sorts of different viewpoints but this one is the best. Just a heads up… get there early if you are going on the weekend! Parking is free but very limited and it can get very crowded with tourists. It’s also super windy and chilly since it’s right on the bay so make sure to dress accordingly.
2. Alcatraz– I would say this is something fun to do if you have a few days in the city. Make sure you buy your tickets at least a few days in advance, and if you are going on any holidays I would buy them as far in advance as you can. THIS is the official site for the Alcatraz Tours. Be careful of people trying to sell tickets randomly on the streets as they could be fake. You’ll want to bring a jacket really no matter what time of year you visit since it’s always so cold right on the bay and the prison itself is really windy and chilly. They give you headphones at the beginning of the tour and give you all sorts of information about the prison and the famous prisoners who were here as you walk the grounds.
3. Coffee Shops– I’ve talked about this so much on my blog and on my Instagram. I’m obsessed with finding the best coffee shops in the city. I dedicated a whole post HERE where I break down my favorites as well as where they are located in the city. IF you have time, bring your laptop, have a cup of coffee and a pastry. My hubby and I used to have coffee dates every weekend and it was the best! The yummy pastries here are from Mr. Holmes Bakehouse. The cruffins are out of this world!
4. Little Italy– The BEST Italian food! YUM! Our favorite pizza place was Tony’s and I still think about their pizza all the time LOL! They do not take reservations so I recommend doing an early lunch or early dinner, otherwise you will probably have to wait 2 hours for a table. It’s for sure worth the wait but it’s tough waiting that long when you have little ones. They also have a few other locations around the city called Slice House where the menu is more limited but you can grab a quick slice to go and you won’t have to wait that long. We used to go to the location in SOMA all the time!
5. Painted Ladies– The iconic houses from Full House! I couldn’t wait to see these the first time we went to SF to visit and once we moved there we went back quite a bit when we had friends and family in town. They sure are gorgeous to see and you have amazing view points of the city. Perfect picture op!
6. Marina District– This is one of my favorite neighborhoods in SF. The houses are all so beautiful with so much character. I would LOVE to live in one of these houses one day! From here it’s only a short walk to restaurants and boutiques and you also have a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the park near by. This is one of my favorite picture spots in the city!
7. Baseball Game– If you’re in town a few days during baseball season I recommend catching a game! It’s so much fun! We took Olivia before we moved when my inlaws were in town and it was such a fun day! Make sure to bring a jacket for sure as the park is right on the water and it gets very windy and chilly. There are so many restaurants near by that you can make a full day of it!
8. Union Square– I know this is super touristy but if you are visiting you need to go. This is where most of the shopping is downtown. There’s a huge mall and a 5 story Nordstrom! The Nordstrom Cafe on the top floor has the best views! There are so many good stores all in walking distance and you can easily catch the cable car here and it takes you over the hill down to Fisherman’s Wharf. Make sure to have your camera ready!
9. Fisherman’s Wharf– This is another spot you need to see if you are visiting. It was fun to see once but VERY crowded and touristy. There are a ton of shops and restaurants and you can easily walk to Pier 39 and see all the sea lions! There are so many of them!
10. Delores Park– One of my favorite spots in the city! I recommend going during the week as the weekends get so crowded and it’s tough to find a spot. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch and you’ll have the best day enjoying the views of the city. They have a nice playground too for the kids and a lot of people bring dogs too! It’s especially nice if the weather is warm.
TOP: Caslon | JEANS: Express (on sale! Buy 1 get 1 for $9.90!) | SWEATER: Old, similar HERE | HAT: Old, similar HERE | SHOES: Old Vince Camuto, similar HERE | SUNNIES: Quay Australia | LIPS: Soar liner and Snob gloss
Hard to believe fall is here already! This year has gone by so fast! I’m so ready for some cooler temps and nice cozy layers. It’s my favorite season of the year! If you haven’t started building your fall wardrobe yet now is the time to start! I’m all about good basics that can be mixed and matched all sorts of ways and can transition from season to season. Here are my top 5 basics every girl needs in their fall wardrobe.
1. Black ripped jeans– These are a MUST! I wear them year round live in them all fall and winter long. Express always has the best jeans for really reasonable prices. They always have good sales too! Right now they have buy 1 get one for $9.90! I’ve had these black jeans for a few years now and they still keep their shape and color. I highly recommend!
2. Plain white tee– You can never have too many white tees in your closet! They always seem to shrink in the wash or get discolored so I’m always picking up new white tees when I see them. This one is super cute and a little bit longer so you can easily tuck or tie it like I have here. White tees are the perfect layering piece and again can be worn year round.
3. Long cardigan– This cardigan is old but I found a really similar one HERE that is a little thicker and cozier for fall. I love the marbled look just to add some texture to an outfit. There are a million long cardigans out there that look great on everyone. I love them to travel in too. THIS one is another favorite of mine because it’s neutral.
4. Neutral open toe booties– Mine are from last year but THESE are super similar. I also have THESE that I wear all the time too! They are comfy and go with everything. THESE BOOTIES are also on my wishlist.
5. Floppy hat– I picked this one up the end of last fall and have been looking forward to wearing it a bunch this year. Hats are fun to wear and are perfect for hiding dirty hair in between washings. There are also some cute fedoras and other style hats that are really popular this year.
Anyone else so ready for fall? I can’t wait to break out the cozy layers, blanket scarves and lots of hot chocolate! I stocked up on lots of fall goodies during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I’m so ready to wear everything! Since I stopped working full time to be a mommy I have to be so much more strategic with the wardrobe items I buy. I always try to stick with basics because they can easily be mixed and matched with each other to create tons of outfit options. I have a million striped tops but I always seem to be adding more to my closet. I’m obsessed with this one! Every time it gets restocked it sells out again immediately, it’s that good! I sized up to a medium for a more oversized fit but I like these kinds of tops to fit a little looser. I’ve linked up a really similar top too just in case this one sells out again and you are looking for the perfect striped top. I loved it so much I got it in olive too!
Every girl needs a leopard clutch in their wardrobe. I truly believe that! You can dress them up or use them casual and they look super cute. I invested in the Clare V clutch a few years ago during a big sale and I use it all the time. If you don’t want to spend that much THIS is a great dupe for only $45! You can never go wrong with stripes and leopard. Print mixing is fun and adds some depth to a regular outfit!
How cute is this little off the shoulder romper!? I am just loving the ruffle detail and I can’t believe it’s only $16! I love finding cute pieces like this where you don’t have to spend a lot but you can wear current trends. SheIn is one of my favorite places to shop for trendy low price items. I have a lot of pieces from them and have loved everything I’ve gotten so far. As I mentioned before, sizing can be a little bit funny as most of the time things are cut small. So I always try to read the reviews and size up if I’m not sure. I’m wearing a medium in the romper. I’m kind of tall so it looks a little short on me with these sandals, typically I wear this with my Tory Burch Millers but I wanted to show how it could be styled up with some cute dressy sandals. It also comes in a cute gray color too!
I’m so excited for the weekend! Olivia and I are headed to meet Daddy in Seattle for a few days! I’m actually kind of nervous to fly with her all by myself. Fingers crossed we do good! Olivia is so much more to handle now and doesn’t want to sit still for long LOL! Thank goodness it’s only a 3 hour flight for us! Wish me luck!
It’s the most exciting sale of the year! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here and it’s sooooooo good this year! I know it’s hard thinking about your fall wardrobe when it’s peak summer but now is the time to stock up on all your fall basics while they are on sale and sizes are available. A lot of times items sell out within the first few days and they are not always restocked. I’m still kicking myself over a few things from last year I missed out on, UGH! The good thing is I learned from my mistakes last year and I have planned better this year. I went over to my local Nordstrom on Thursday and tried on a ton of things from the sale I saw online that I liked! Some things I liked and some I didn’t. I’m sharing all my favorites here with you just in case you are like me and look for really good wardrobe staples you can mix and match easily through fall and winter without breaking the bank. It would be nice to have been able to get everything I wanted but I set a budget and I’m sticking with it. Sorry in advance for the poor quality photos! I had to work with what I had in addition to trying to distract and entertain a 7 month old haha! Anyhow, let’s get started!
The looks above were a few of my favorites! Unfortunately the booties are NOT part of the sale, these are the shoes I wore to the mall since they are so versatile and go with everything. I have them linked for you too just in case you’ve been looking for the perfect neutral sandal. There are a ton of cute booties included in the sale including THESE adorable peep toes. I’m still so unsure if I want the gray or the tan color. I love them both!
I’m obsessed with both pair of jeans in the pics above. Both fit true to size and are very flattering. The olive long sleeve top I’m wearing a small but could also size up to a medium for a more oversized fit. I wanted the white stripe one too but it sold out too fast! I can’t believe they are only $18! The tan leather jacket in the middle is so similar to my faux leather jacket from last year that I wear ALL THE TIME and always get so many compliments on! The only problem with this jacket is since it’s real leather it’s more pricey but it may be worth the investment if you wear it as much as I wear mine. The white tee I’m wearing I loved! I’m wearing a medium and it’s a little longer in the back which I like and is only $15! The long cardigan in the last pic unfortunately sold out already in this exact color, hopefully it will be restocked since it was such a huge hit. The gray color is also super cute. I’m wearing a small in the pic but it was a little big on me. I wanted to try an XS but they didn’t have any in store to try. Usually I’m a small so I would say this runs big. Make sure to size down if you are ordering online.
These are my favorite over the knee boots ever! I can’t even believe they are part of the sale. Stuart Weitzman boots hardly EVER go on sale! So if you’ve had your eye on these now is the time to jump on them. Don’t wait because they will sell out. I know they are a little pricey but the fit and quality is so good you will have them forever! They run tts!
These riding boots are also a steal! Tory Burch is usually excluded from the sales but these boots are included. I already have another pair of brown riding boots or I would be adding these to my collection. These ALWAYS sell out every year so jump on them if you are thinking about it!
You can never have too many plaid tops in your wardrobe! They are always a fall staple and can be worn buttoned up, unbuttoned, tied around your waist, etc… I have so many plaid tops but I am always on the lookout for any good ones to add to my closet! There is also a white and gray tone one that I wanted but they did not have my size in store. These tops do run a bit big but they look good a little bit oversized. I’m wearing a size small.
There are sooooo many great denim choices this year! I really had a hard time deciding what to get. These BP rippy jeans were one of my favs! They are such a steal for only $42 too! I also loved THESE from my first pic above. The fit was so good! I wanted to try these AG jeans to see if they were really worth the money but I couldn’t find them… there were soooo many people to fight through… with a stroller LOL! I’m so bummed I missed out on the pair last year with rips in the knees! UGH! The BP and Blank Denim jeans run tts.
So many cute sunnies!
LOVED this jacket!
And these too!
I loved this denim jacket on the rack but I didn’t love the fit unfortunately. It was kind of bulky. I tried on my normal size 4. I wanted to try to size down to a 2 but they didn’t have anymore left. If you like a more boyfriend fit this jacket may work for you. It is super cute!
And cute basic tees for layering!

Wow! The last week or so has been so completely insane! If you missed my last post, we made the difficult decision to leave our life in the city of San Francisco to take an amazing job opportunity back in San Diego. As much as we loved our life in the city, and all the adventures we had, it was very difficult to live that lifestyle on only one income, with a new baby and a huge dog. We had no space in our tiny 2 bedroom apartment and our pup really needed a yard. Luckily we kept our house in San Diego before we moved last year so we got to come back to our home, more space and lots of sunshine! Everything happens for a reason and we are very happy with our decision. I’m sure we will be back to SF quite often for my hubby’s job and I look forward to going back as often as we can. Who knows, we may end up back there again in the future.
One of the things I love and miss most is all the amazing coffee shops throughout the city. My hubby and I used to have coffee dates most weekends and we would try new places all the time. One of the questions I get asked the most is for suggestions for the best coffee in the city. I’ve got a list of my favorites for you below! If you’re ever in the city make sure to check them out!
1. Jane on Fillmore– One of my favorites for sure! The Pac Heights location is so adorable with little black and white checked tables and super yummy food and coffee. It’s such a cute trendy area with boutique shops near by. Make sure to go early though because it’s small and tables fill up fast. Great gluten free baked goods too!
2. The Mill– My hubby’s favorite! Located in Lower Pac Heights on Divisadero. This one is huge inside with shared tables. They make their own fresh bread and you can buy it by the loaf too. Sooo good!
3. Saint Frank’s– Located at the bottom of Russian Hill. We went here when we first moved to SF so it’s been a while since I was here. I do remember they had a ton of different kinds of coffee from around the world and the coffee house was very clean, crisp and bright inside.
4. Blue Bottle Coffee– There are several locations throughout the city. We went to the one located in the Financial District. It was absolutely beautiful with white marble tables and floors and floor to ceiling windows. It was such a fun place to sit by the window and people watch but was not one of my favorites for coffee.
5. Hearth– Located in the Castro. Such a cute little coffee shop with really good pastries. The Castro is always such a fun place to go to people watch!
6. Sightglass– Located in SOMA on 7th. There are several locations through the city but this one was our favorite and we went here quite often. It’s huge inside and looks like an old warehouse that has been renovated into a beautiful coffee shop. They roast their beans right onsight and it smells sooooo good! They have so many good pastries here too.
7. Reveille– Located in Mission Bay. This was my favorite place for coffee or hot chocolate in the winter. The pink tables are to die for and the interior is so beautiful too! Also very dog friendly and they have the best food of all the cafes on my list. I could seriously eat here every day!
8. Viva la Tarte– Located in SOMA on Howard and 8th. I went here with a girlfriend for lunch and coffee and was so impressed! It’s very big inside with just a few tables and casual seating. They serve Sightglass coffee along with a ton of pasteries, pizzas and desserts. They are well known for the avocado toast!
9. Home- Located at 1222 Noriega St. I couldn’t find a link for their website. I actually stumbled upon this place on Instagram after seeing pictures of beautiful colorful lattes! It was a little more difficult to get to so you may need a car to get to this part of town. I was amazed at all the delicious and colorful lattes they offered. The birthday cake latte was soooo pretty and so yummy too!
10. Mr. Holmes Bakehouse– I know this one is not a coffee shop but if you are ever visiting SF you have got to go to Mr Holmes! Their cruffins are out of this world! They are a mix between a croissant and a muffin and they are baked fresh daily. Make sure to get in line as early as possible to make sure you get one. They sell out fast and you must be in line early. There is a limit of 2 per person. You can check their FB or IG page for all the flavors every week. The bakehouse is located in a not-so-good part of town so I recommend getting an uber or driving here and not walking around.
I cannot say enough good things about this top from SheIn! Seriously, it is my new summer favorite! I am obsessed with the bell sleeves and the flowy material. It’s so comfy and I got so many compliments when I wore it a few days ago. I can’t even believe it’s only $17… I have seen so many cute OTS tops that sell at other retailers for 2-3 times the cost of this top! You really don’t need to spend a lot to look fashionable and wear current trends. This top is a “one size” but it’s very flowy and would look great on every body type. I like to tuck just the front in to make it appear a little more fitted. It would look so cute with cut offs and boots for summer concerts and festivals too!
On another note, there has been SO much going on in our household these last few weeks. After so much soul searching and debating, we have decided to move from San Francisco back to San Diego. It’s been a very tough decision but it feels like the best move for our family where we are in life right now. We LOVE the city of San Francisco. It’s been so good to us and our little family this past year but it is tough living in a city with a baby and a huge dog haha! San Diego is just more our style, very laid back, beach vibes, sunshine, etc… plus we still have our house there! So it’s a pretty easy move this time. We are moving this Friday so everything is kind of crazy at our apartment. There are boxes everywhere! It’s been really tough trying to pack boxes in between the baby napping and after she is in bed at night. We don’t have any family on the west coast at all so it’s been tough doing everything on our own and trying to keep Olivia’s schedule as normal as possible. I’ll be so thankful once the move is done and we can get settled back into our house. I’m trying to work on a few posts too of some things you must do when visiting San Francisco and sharing my favorite coffee shops since I always get a bunch of questions about the best places to go for coffee in the city. As always thank you so much for following along!

So over the years I have really started to think about things a lot more before I buy them. I no longer buy things to wear once for going out and that’s it. I like to invest in better quality pieces that I can mix and match to style different ways. I’m actually in the process of cleaning out my closet and my goodness, so many things I have just wasted money on!
This top is one of my new favorites. I absolutely LOVE off the shoulder tops and this one is so cute with the ruffles and tie front. It’s so many current trends all wrapped up into one top! I just love it! It comes in a bunch of different colors too. I always seem to gravitate to chambray for some reason but I did end up getting it in coral too, oops! I love this top paired with white denim but it would also look so cute with white cut offs too. I sized up to a medium to make the top a little bit longer on my belly. Pre-baby I would have gone with my regular size small, but after baby I just feel better with tops a little bit longer.
I seriously live in these Tory Burch sandals too! I don’t know why I waited so long to get them. I hated to spend that much money on sandals but I wear them all the time and they were so worth the splurge! Such great quality! Every girl should have a good pair of white denim, at least one cute off the shoulder top, and classic neutral sandals in their wardrobe for spring and summer!
It’s springtime in the city! We’ve finally been getting some warmer weather and I am loving not having to wear a jacket or dressing in multiple layers every day haha! I finally get to wear some of my favorite off the shoulder tops! OTS tops are one of the biggest trends again this year and I’m sure they will be around for quite some time. They really are so comfy and look great on everyone!
I’m loving this chambray off the shoulder top from SheIn! It is so cute and so comfy and a steal at less than $20! SheIn always has the best selection of designer inspired pieces at very affordable prices. They are hit or miss with sizing for me. I feel that most things I get off this site runs small so I always read the reviews carefully and size up if I’m not sure which size to go with. I’m wearing a size small for reference, I probably could have worn a medium for a more oversized fit but overall I think the small worked well. I love this top and will be getting a ton of wear out of it over the spring and summer months. It also comes in gray which would look super cute in the fall.

DRESS: ASOS (this exact color is currently not available, but THIS, THIS or THIS one is also really cute) similar style HERE | SANDALS: Marc Fisher, similar option HERE | BAG: Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis | SUNNIES: Nordstrom (only $14!) | RING: Revolve
Ahhh…… take me back to warm weather and off the shoulder dresses please! We had so much fun in Vegas the last few days. It was quite a different kind of trip going with a baby that’s for sure HAHA but more on that in another post. The weather was so gorgeous and not too hot this time of year. It was so windy though! I was able to break out one of my favorite easy dresses for spring/ summer. It’s a steal for under $25 and comes in a bunch of different colors. I have it in coral too which I wore in these pics from our babymoon in Maui. I would love to get THIS pink one too! Would be perfect for a summer beach vacation! I was also so excited to get to wear my new wedges! They were so comfy for all the walking we did, although this trip we did spend most of our time in the hotel. I’m obsessed with the color of these wedges and they go with everything including jeans, shorts and dresses. Looking forward to wearing them so much more this spring!
How adorable is this pink sweater!? I am in love with the color for transitioning into spring. Can you believe it’s on sale for only $9 too!? WOW! It’s seriously so comfy and cozy. I love sweaters pairing sweaters with shorts during the transition into spring and fall. It’s kind of a blend of 2 seasons in one outfit.
For sizing reference, the sweater is only one size and it runs a bit large. I’m 5’7 so it fits me pretty well but if you are shorter it may be a little big. I decided to wear it more off the shoulder for a more comfy and laid back look but it would be really cute with jeans as well. The lace up detail in the back is so cute too! I got so many compliments on this sweater when I wore it this week. No girl can resist something pretty and pink!

Sharing a few pics from this weekend’s coffee date look with hubby and our little plus 1. I mentioned before that we love having a coffee date every weekend and exploring all the yummy cafes in San Francisco. There are so many! I’m actually working on a post to share my favorites so far! It’s so much fun exploring different parts of the city.
My OTK boots are old but I’ve found a really similar pair also in a nice neutral grey color. Grey boots can be worn so many different ways and with so many outfits. They are definitely a great addition to a wardrobe and can be dressed up or worn casual like I have here. You can’t go wrong with boots that can be worn all through spring too! They look so good with white denim and floral dresses. What is your favorite way to wear grey boots?
I’m sure you’re probably tired of seeing me in this jacket by now. I wear it ALL THE TIME! I just can’t help it! The color goes with everything and it’s just so easy to throw on for running around the city. This is one outfit I wear at least once a week. It’s casual but still a little edgy and oh so comfy. This beanie sold out super fast, even before I could order it in black, but I found an almost identical one that is also really cute and on sale and I have it linked here.
I’m working on packing today as we leave tomorrow for our first trip on an airplane with baby Olivia. I’m so nervous! We’re traveling to Florida to visit family so they can meet her for the first time. It will be so much fun for everyone to finally meet our little babe. It looks like the weather is in the 80’s too which will be so different than the 50’s we’re used to. I may even get to wear some dresses haha! If you have any advice for flying with a newborn please let this mama know!
LEATHER JACKET: Nordstrom (faux leather option HERE) | JEANS: Express (50% off!!) | BOOTS: Stuart Weitzman (cheaper option HERE) | SCARF: GAP | HAT: GAP | SUNNIES: Ray Ban | BAG: Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis | LIPS: MAC liner in color Half-Red
I am a basics kinda girl through and through! Most of my wardrobe can be mixed and matched very easily and it makes getting dressed so much easier, especially with a 4 week old newborn in the house. Sometimes I only have a few minutes to grab something from the closet to throw on before we have to run out the door. Having a ton of basic pieces make it easy to grab something quick as everything goes with everything!
I just love this beanie and scarf set from GAP. The little pom pom on the beanie is the cutest! I have been on the hunt for a matching beanie for little Olivia but so far everything is just a little too big for her newborn size. If you haven’t jumped on the OTK boots train yet make sure you do. They are so comfortable and look great on everyone. There are so many different styles with heels or flat and so many colors to choose from in all sorts of price points. I went ahead and invested in the Stuart Weitzman black Highlands last year since I have been wearing OTK boots for years and love them! If you are just trying them for the first time and are not sure if you will like them or not Nordstrom has a ton in price points below $100 that would be great to try out but trust me, you will love them!
I can’t even believe today is Christmas Eve Eve! Our little family will be spending a nice quiet weekend in San Francisco. All our family lives on the east coast and Olivia is too young to fly so unfortunately we will not be spending the holiday with family this year. Thank goodness for FaceTime though so we will still see everyone. My hubby and I are just so blessed to finally have a baby this Christmas it doesn’t even matter we’ll be in SF just the 3 of us. We’re just counting our blessings and look forward to making our first Christmas with Olivia extra special!
Well you guessed it…. I’m still pregnant! Our little girl is keeping us patiently waiting that’s for sure! Over the weekend we walked over 3 miles each day all around the city trying to induce labor. My body is very conditioned from working out and walking a ton already that it didn’t do anything to help me unfortunately. I also had my membranes sweeped 3 times and nothing has worked. We will need to induce this week if baby doesn’t come soon. I was really hoping she would come on her own but ultimately making sure we have a healthy baby and delivery are the most important things for us.
Anyhow, this was one of the outfits I wore over the weekend for all our walking. I have been on the lookout for the right buffalo plaid plaid top for a while now. This one was perfect from H&M and I sized up for an oversized look. Being 41 weeks pregnant I wanted to leave it unbuttoned so it didn’t look like a tent haha! But once baby is here I will be wearing it again buttoned up with riding boots. I also love to wear a casual white tee with a plaid tied around my waist, or underneath a sweater for a layered look. Plaid tops are so versatile and you can never have too many!
Well, 40 weeks and still waiting for our baby girl! She is just not ready to greet us yet. I don’t mind though, I’m enjoying as much time as I can with my parents while they are in town plus I’m cherishing these last days with her inside and close and safe. Hubby and I decided to take my parents down to Santa Cruz for the day just to get out of the city while I’m still able to get around. I love downtown Santa Cruz. So many cute little cafes and shops to check out and you can’t beat these gorgeous fall colors with the trees!
I layered my look since it can get chilly walking around but I still get hot quite often so I didn’t want to wear a big jacket around. This scarf is my absolute favorite for fall. I just love this gorgeous orange color with all the colors of fall. I picked up this pumpkin colored top last weekend at Nordstrom and it pairs just perfectly with the scarf. I sized up in the top to work with my bump but will still work after baby for a little oversized look. The top and scarf are both under $30 so are great pieces to mix in your fall wardrobe. Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving?! The holidays will be here before we know it!

Oh my goodness! I can’t even put into words how grateful and happy I am to be 39 weeks pregnant! It is seriously a dream come true! I think when you fight so hard for something you appreciate it a thousand times more than you would have if you would not have gone through such a struggle. This 3 year journey has brought my husband and I so much closer together and we have not taken one single day of this pregnancy for granted. I’m hoping one day to open up more about our personal struggle during this time but for now I choose to focus on the positive and this beautiful little blessing inside me! I truly believe we are never given more than we can handle and everything happens for a reason. Even though I may never understand everything we went through to get where we are today I am at peace with it and it made me stronger and for that I am forever grateful!
It’s been a long time since I’ve done a bumpdate! I really wanted to be better about documenting my pregnancy journey but I’ve tried to live in the moment as much as I can through this experience. I’ve loved seeing my belly grow and feeling my baby inside. I am going to miss my little bump but I can’t wait to see what my baby looks like and what her little personality will be. I can’t wait to show her the world and travel as much as we can. I can’t wait to tell her I love her every day and how she changed our lives forever. I hope she will be kind and compassionate and love animals as much as I do. I know her puppy and kitty sisters are excited to meet her too! Of course I also hope she likes shopping and playing dress up as much as I do too, haha! We are just incredibly grateful we finally get the opportunity to be parents and share our lives with this sweet little soul we have been entrusted with.
So since this is probably my last bumpdate here is an update of where we are at in the pregnancy as of now!
How far along: 39 weeks and 4 days!
Size of baby: We are finally considered full term! Baby is about the size of a pumpkin, about 20 inches long and about 7lbs! How perfect for this time of year!
Name: We really had a tough time agreeing on her name, but we have agreed on one since the beginning and it just feels right. We’re going to wait on announcing her name until she is here with us.
Where we are at now: At this point my cervix has really started to thin and I have dilated to about 1.5 centimeters! We’re getting so excited to meet our little girl any day now! I’m hoping everything progresses naturally and our baby comes into the world when she is ready. Our doctor did schedule an induction date for next Saturday when we get to 41 weeks, but as long as my blood pressure remains good and baby is healthy I will be pushing it back to 42 weeks. I want things to remain as natural as possible through labor and delivery.
The nursery: We’re getting there! We ordered her furniture from Pottery Barn Kids and the dresser just came last week. It’s been fun to finally start putting her little clothes in her dresser and get things decorated. I’m not stressing about having the nursery completely finished by the time she is here since we are only in a 2 bedroom apartment and my parents are also in the nursery during their stay with us. Baby girl will be sleeping in our room the first few months anyway in her Halo Bassinet Sleeper. We will be doing a nursery reveal once everything is ready. I’m so excited to see it all come together!
What am I most excited about: Finally seeing what my baby girl looks like! I have dreamed of her for years as we struggled to get pregnant so just knowing I will be holding her in my arms any day now is seriously a dream come true. There were so many times we thought this experience was never going to be possible for us so we are excited for every little milestone!
What am I least excited about: LABOR! I think it’s just the unknown of how and when it’s going to happen. How bad is it going to hurt? Am I going to be able to do this? I think every first time mom goes through these same fears though. I want to go into this whole experience very open minded and just see what I can do. I am very intune with my body and mind and have practiced yoga and meditation for years, although I am also not afraid to ask for help if I need it. We are delivering at one of the top hospitals in the country so I know we are in good hands. I feel so much better having my Mom here. She is such a huge support system to me as well as my hubby who will be the best coach 🙂 The most important thing to me is having skin to skin contact immediately after birth and having our family bonding time right away.
Cravings: I really haven’t had any cravings this whole pregnancy. I guess I have been wanting a lot more carbs than I usually eat. I am obsessed with Eggo waffles in the mornings for breakfast haha! I haven’t had a big appetite this whole pregnancy due to all the heartburn and nausea. I usually have such a sweet tooth too and I haven’t craved chocolate or sweets that much. Very unlike me! Tums have been my best friend through the entire pregnancy!
Aversions: Oh my! I have been extra sensitive to everything this whole pregnancy! I was very nauseous in the first trimester. The second trimester I felt really good and had lots of energy although I still suffered with the heartburn. The third trimester I have been back to being more tired and nauseous. I have had terrible heartburn the whole pregnancy and have used Tums constantly. Just smelling certain foods or smells make me throw up. It’s not fun but as long as baby is healthy I can handle it. I also found that I can no longer eat dairy. I’m ok with a little bit of cheese but absolutely no milk or icecream. They make me sick almost instantly.
How I’m feeling: Overall I’m feeling very good! I’ve been blessed with a pretty easy pregnancy. I have been getting Braxton Hicks which can be uncomfortable at times but not painful. The end has gotten tough with the insomnia and discomfort at night. I sleep propped up on a ton of pillows to help with the heartburn but I still deal with that every night. I really dread going to bed at night since I lay there and toss and turn all night long. It’s the worst. No matter what I just can’t get comfy, I get very warm at night and I’m constantly up going to the bathroom every hour to hour and a half. It’s only been this bad the last few weeks though. I know the end is near! Plus I feel like it’s preparing for me to be up a bunch during the night once baby is here with us.
Weight gain: I gained about 25lbs total, but I have lost about 3lbs the last week or so. I don’t think I’ll gain any more weight since I feel so full all the time and there is nowhere for anything else to go. I have stayed active the whole pregnancy trying to walk as much as I can. I always get people tell me they can’t believe I’m in my 9th month but I think everyone just carries differently. I’m tall so I have a lot of room for baby to go. People are always so quick to judge a pregnant woman’s body whether they think you are too small or too big. As long as I am healthy and baby is healthy that is all that matters.
Baby favorites: There are so many things that I just love for our baby girl! I tried to really do my research and invest in good things that will last a long time. Since moving to San Francisco this summer we no longer have a big house to store things so we have to be really careful what we buy. I will be doing a nursery reveal once the nursery is ready but here are a few of my favorite things!
Bob Revolution– When we had our house I planned on having a snap-and-go type stroller for on the go plus a running stroller for something more heavy duty. I rarely ever drive living in the city now so there was no need for the frame stroller so we just went with the jogging stroller plus the adapter for the carseat. The wheels on here are perfect for the rocky city streets and hills and will be perfect when she can ride in the stroller by itself too.
Halo Bassinet Sleeper– I mentioned this above but it’s very important to us to have baby sleeping in our room for the first few months. I read a ton of reviews on this sleeper and it seems very good! The base is pretty heavy which will prevent it from tipping over and it also vibrates and has a music feature that will be nice if we need it.
Solly Baby Wrap: I read such good things about this baby wrap from other bloggers I follow on Instagram. I wanted a nice soft wrap so baby can be close to me the first few weeks but I can also move about the house as I need to. Wraps like these help promote skin to skin contact which helps build the bond between mommy and baby and makes nursing easy too. We also got the Ergobaby carrier for when she’s a little bit older. My hubby is excited to help carry her around with this one.
Aden & Anais Swaddles: I love this brand! I have bought blankets, swaddles and bibs because the quality is so good and there are a ton of adorable prints.
Moccs: I love these little shoes! So far I’ve only bought this one neutral pair but the quality is so nice I will be buying other colors once she gets a little bigger to be wearing shoes more. I think in the beginning they wear the little sleepers and socks around the house.
Skip Hop Diaper Bag: I really loved this diaper bag! I wanted something very simple and black with lots of pockets. The quality seems very good and there are lots of pockets inside too!
There are a TON more items I have that I am just loving for baby! I will link a ton more things when I do her nursery reveal. Do you have any suggestions for baby must have items? If so I’d love to hear!
TOP: Old Navy Maternity | JEANS: Old Navy Maternity (must have maternity staple!) | SCARF: Nordstrom | BOOTS: Stuart Weitzman, cheaper option HERE | HAT: Nordstrom | Bag: Tory Burch | Sunnies: Raybans | LIPLINER: MAC (in color Half-Red)
Fall has to be my favorite time of the year! The weather is getting cooler, you can dress in cozy layers and you know the holidays are just around the corner. This year is extra special for my hubby and I since our little babe will be here with us in just a matter of weeks! I loved seeing all the little kids at the pumpkin patch and can’t wait to share those memories with my daughter next year. We went down to Half Moon Bay over the weekend to get some fun pics at the pumpkin patch before the pumpkin festival started. I just love this area of NorCal. It’s so beautiful and really a nice little break from our life in the city.
I’m finally able to break out all the cozy fall layers! The weather is always a little cooler in San Francisco but Sept and Oct are the warmest months of the year, so it’s been nice to get back to fall weather. I just got this scarf and hat at Nordstrom a couple weeks ago. Both are perfect fall staples and will be so versatile all through fall and winter. These boots are my favorites ever! I wanted a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots for years but didn’t want to pay that much for them, so I always went through a new pair of boots every year. Last year I finally decided to invest in a pair and it’s the best decision I’ve made! The quality is the best and they are so stretchy and comfy. I will love them for years to come! I have also linked a cheaper option that I have seen on a number of my blogger friends and they look amazing! These are a good option if you aren’t ready for the investment or not sure if you will like OTK boots.
Tonight is our final birth class! My parents also fly in tonight to stay with my husband and I in California for a few weeks for the birth of our baby and also to help us to adjust to life with a newborn. I’m so grateful to have them and really look forward to this special bonding time. I’m so excited to show them our new city so hopefully baby girl will wait a little bit to make her debut 🙂
TOP: mine is old but THIS one is very similar | JEANS: Old Navy Maternity (non-maternity option HERE) | BOOTIES: Splendid | BAG: Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis | LIP LINER: MAC in color half-red | SUNNIES: RayBan
I just love fall in San Francisco! We’re still finding so many cute little neighborhoods to explore throughout the city. I still think Pacific Heights is my favorite! Some of the houses and views here are really breathtaking. I love the neighborhood feel and could just imagine living in one of these dream mansions!
I actually got this top last year but surprisingly it still fits even with this 9 month baby bump! It’s one of my favorite tops ever and I wear it all the time. I found a really similar one I’m linking HERE in case you’ve been on the lookout for a lightweight thermal top too… and this one comes in 8 different colors! I just think olive is the perfect fall color and it looks great on everyone. These jeans are another one of my maternity must have items. There’s no need to spend a lot on maternity clothes since you won’t be in them that long, but you also want to feel good and look stylish throughout your pregnancy. I find that Old Navy has so many great budget friendly options for maternity clothes. These jeans are so comfy and I wear them several times per week. I will have to pick up the non-maternity pair once I’m back in regular jeans… they are that good!
DRESS: IsabellaOliver | SHOES: Guess (mine are old), similar HERE or HERE | CLUTCH: Clare V (25% off right now with code MAINEVENT16!) | LIPS: MAC in color Half Red | NAILS: OPI in color Lincoln Park After Dark
I am so thankful for Isabella Oliver for sending me this beautiful fitted dress from their new fall line. I have been a fan of their clothing my entire pregnancy. The quality and fit are top notch and really help you feel your best even when you don’t always feel so great haha! I was immediately drawn to this color and style dress. The length is classy and fitted and the color is just perfect for fall. It really is a great piece that can be styled so many different ways. I am wearing the size 1 (US size 4). I actually planned on wearing my leopard pumps but being 9 months pregnant, they just don’t fit right now. I am still loving it with my favorite leopard clutch instead. By the way, if you’ve had your eye on this Clare V clutch now is the best time to buy! It rarely ever goes on sale but is part of the HUGE ShopBop yearly sale. Just use code MAINEVENT16 at checkout! I seriously use it ALL THE TIME!
I also wanted to mention Isabella Oliver’s new button campaign designed to help us pregnant mamas taking public transportation. Since moving to San Francisco this summer I rely on public transportation everywhere. There’s nothing more frustrating than being exhausted at the end of the day with swollen feet and someone on the metro not offering you their seat. It’s even more annoying when they pretend to be doing something on their phone or pretend to be asleep. I absolutely love this A SEAT WOULD BE NEAT campaign. It’s a cute way to get the message out that we would appreciate a seat without having to ask. You can get one of these cute little buttons for free with any purchase from the new season collection. My personal favorite is the PLEASE MIND THE BUMP as it reminds me of our trip to London a few years ago. My hubby and I would get a kick out of the constant recording reminder when taking the tube around the city to “Please mind the gap” getting onto the London Underground (subway).
Anyhow, if you are pregnant and looking for some good quality maternity staples to build your wardrobe make sure to check out Isabella Oliver. You will not be disappointed in any of their beautiful pieces!

Finally getting around to posting our beautiful maternity pictures we got back a few weeks ago from our babymoon in Maui. I still get tears in my eyes every time I look at them and think of all we went through to get here. There were so many times we thought this was not going to ever happen for us but we never lost hope. I really feel like this 3 year struggle brought my husband I closer together than we already were. You are never given more than you can handle. For anyone else that may be struggling as well never give up and keep fighting! Being pregnant has been the best experience of my life and I am eternally grateful for this blessing!
We went to Maui for our babymoon last month and decided to have our maternity pictures done while we were there to always remember that last vacation just the two of us. I would have rather waited until I was a little further along but know I would have regretted not getting them if I had waited. I’m so thankful we had them done. I researched quite a few photographers in Maui and decided to go with Kristy Copperfield (http://www.kristycopperfield.com). I felt like her style captured the look I wanted and her prices were very reasonable. Some of the other photographers I looked at were very expensive. I just wanted a few keepsake pictures for us to have forever. Our pictures were done on Baby Beach in Lahaina. It was the most perfect location. Very quiet and mostly just locals.
My dress is from Sew Trendy Accessories. I cannot say enough good things about this dress and company. I had been following them on Instagram for a while and loved all the different styles and colors they offered. I knew this is the company I wanted to go with for my maternity dress. All dresses are very custom to how you want them. Once you decide on the style you want you can really customize with the slit in the front to show your belly, you can do a slit on the side or no slit at all. I went with the Cameron gown since it was sheer and flowy and off the shoulder. I really wanted to go with the blush color since we’re having a baby girl but I thought the ivory would be more timeless and easier to match my hubby to. I went with no slit option in my dress since I wasn’t comfortable showing my complete stomach, but I did get the slip option so my dress would still be flowy for the beach but not see through. It turned out just perfect and exactly what I had pictured in my head. I wanted to do a flower crown for my head but decided to just go with some tropical flowers that were all around our resort.
Thank you so much to everyone that has followed along on our pregnancy journey. We’re in the home stretch now I can hardly believe baby girl will be with us very soon! I will be posting a 35 week bumpdate next week so stay tuned.
A HUGE thank you to PinkBlush Maternity for sending me THIS gorgeous dress! It is perfectly fitted for the bump and such a beautiful color! I’m wearing a size small for reference. I am just obsessed with basic maternity dresses that you can style all different ways. I actually planned on wearing nude heels but being 8 months pregnant and with the heat it was just more comfortable to wear these Tory Burch sandals I always seem to wear. Sometimes it’s just better to be comfy. This dress would also look so cute with heels and a blazer. Or if you’re looking to dress it more casual just pair it with a nice denim jacket and sandals and throw your hair in a pony tail and you’ll be set! I plan on wearing this dress through the remainder of my pregnancy. If you’re not a fan of this color don’t worry, it comes in 13 other color options! I love them all!
I got so many compliments on this dress when I wore it this past weekend. My hubby and I decided to get out of the city and take a drive out to Napa Valley to enjoy the sunshine and beautiful scenery. Even though I can’t drink wine right now we still had the best time riding through the mountains and having lunch at the prettiest little restaurant, Brix. There are so many beautiful wineries I can’t wait to go back in a few months!
Our babymoon in Maui was like a dream come true! It was the last vacation just the two of us and we will remember it forever. We knew before we even got pregnant we wanted to have one last big trip just the two of us since it would be a while until baby would be ok to travel with us. Maui was top on my list! I wanted to go somewhere warm and sunny and just relax at the beach and pool. Mexico and a few other places we were considering were off limits due to the zika virus, we just didn’t want to chance anything. Plus we had a direct flight from San Francisco so it made flying while pregnant a breeze. Typically when we travel we are on the go constantly and try to do as much as we can every day. This trip was completely different and we really enjoyed sleeping in, calling for room service, taking naps in the afternoon and watching the sunset with drinks (mine being Ginger Ale of course).
We decided to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua and booked very early on in our pregnancy to make sure we could stay where we wanted with an ocean view room. I mentioned in my posts before that we always try to stick with the same hotel chain when we travel. We choose to stay with Marriott because the hotels are all over the world and always in the best areas. It’s nice when you travel to other countries to have some things that are familiar. We have been part of their rewards program for years and always build up lots of points and then go on a nice vacation. Now that Ritz is owned by Marriott we knew we had to stay at this resort. Once you stay at a Ritz it’s so hard to go back to a regular hotel haha! You are greeted by everyone you meet by name and service is always top notch. It’s always worth the pricetag.
We stayed at the resort all day every day. We only left the resort one day when we went to have our maternity pictures done in Lahaina. The first morning we enjoyed room service with a feast of eggs, chocolate chip pancakes, fresh fruit and coffee and lots of yummy pastries. After the first day we found a little cafe onsite where we could grab a quick pastry and coffee for a fraction of the price. We would go down in the mornings, grab our breakfast, and enjoy it in our room with the sliding door open and ocean breeze coming in. We always figure out ways to cut costs for food and stay within a budget each day. This allowed us to eat on the property every day and also stay on budget with the total cost of the trip. For lunch we would usually eat at the little pool bar. They would bring it to our chair while at the pool or they had a cute little dining area with shade where you could eat as well. The fresh fish tacos were the best and they were plenty big enough to share. So most days we would just split the tacos. This freed up extra money at dinner so we could have a dessert or hubby could have a few beers. The portions were huge so we mostly just split everything on our trip.
The pics above were taken at DT Fleming Beach right on the property at the Ritz. It was so beautiful and very quiet. There’s also a little restaurant with burgers and shakes right on the beach surrounded by palm trees. So cute! One thing we did treat ourselves to on our babymoon was a couples massage. Ugh! Talk about pure heaven! We were in a cabana outside feeling the ocean breeze and hearing the palm trees swaying in the breeze. It was one of my favorite parts on our whole trip! Just enjoying that hour together not worrying about anything and just relaxing side by side was a memory I’ll cherish forever. The spa is absolutely gorgeous and you are welcome to stay the whole day with any spa service.
Now that we’ve had the most relaxing and beautiful babymoon we’re ready to meet our little baby girl soon! Somedays I can’t even believe we we are 8 months along already. How did I get so lucky? Love my little family so, so much!
Hi loves! Finally able to get these pics up on the blog. I feel like we’ve been traveling so much the last few weeks it’s hard to get anything done at home. Anyhow, I’ve been dying to share this little maternity off the shoulder top from PinkBlush Maternity for all my mama-to-be’s. It’s just so adorable! Typically you don’t think of maternity clothes as being cute and stylish but PinkBlush always has so many cute things for really reasonable prices. This top is only $43 but is on sale right now for only $34! It comes in navy and grey too. I’m wearing a size small for reference.
I’ve been really fortunate through this pregnancy that most of my clothes still fit me. I only invested in a few pairs of maternity jeans and a few tops and dresses. I try to buy basic pieces so I can easily mix and match everything. Typically I love bright fun colors in the summer, but I have noticed since moving to the city of San Francisco that most people here just stick to basic colors like black, white, grays and browns. This works for me too since it has been quite chilly up here as compared to SoCal where it’s hot and sunny all the time. It’s still taking some getting used to but I’m learning to dress for the weather, not for the season. These maternity jeans were my only maternity splurge and I just love them. They fit very well and will work through the rest of my pregnancy and immediately afterwards. Hope you all have a great rest of your week! I’m working on a post of our time in Maui for our babymoon. Stay tuned 🙂
DRESS: Ingrid & Isabel (MUST HAVE maternity dress!) | CHAMBRAY: HERE or HERE | CLUTCH: ShopBop | SANDALS: Tory Burch | RING: Revolve | SUNNIES: Prada (try them for free at www.ditto.com with code CALIFORNIABRUNETTE)
Hi babes! I’m having the best time exploring San Francisco with my little bump! We’ve now been living in our new city for almost a month and it’s finally starting to feel like home. I know it’s super touristy but one thing I’ve always wanted to see is the Mrs. Doubtfire house. It’s one of my favorite movies ever! It’s located in Pacific Heights which to me is one of the most beautiful parts of the city. I just can’t get over these gorgeous Victorian homes and super hilly streets! It really is breathtaking!
I’m still getting used to the cooler weather here coming from SoCal so it’s been a little tough trying to add layers to summer clothes. I decided to try my favorite chambray top styled another way just to add some sleeves to a sleeveless dress. Speaking of this dress, OH MY GOSH! For all my mama-to-be’s this is a MUST HAVE maternity dress! I know it is a little pricey but trust me, you will get your money’s worth. This charcoal color is actually the 2nd one I bought since I loved THIS one so much. It’s so comfy and stretchy and will work the rest of my pregnancy. It is so versatile and can be styled so many different ways! What is your favorite way to style a chambray top?
How cute is this little beach cover up! I am just so obsessed! A huge thank you to SheInside for sending me this gorgeous piece! Typically I’m not a huge fan of tassels, but the details on this coverup are too cute! I was actually eyeing one just like this from another big retailer but it was over $100 and I just didn’t want to spend that on a cover up. I was so excited to find this one that looks exactly like the more expensive one for only $23! The material is really nice and will hold up well too. I am wearing a size small for reference. It does run a little large as I am 5’7 and 17 weeks pregnant. If you need a good coverup and don’t want to spend a ton on one make sure to check out SheInside for lots of cute options (www.shein.com). I buy a lot from them and am always happy with the quality of the items I get.
There’s nothing better than relaxing by the pool on a weekend getaway to Palm Springs. I’m so obsessed with this little white cover up from TopShop. I will get so much use out of it this summer at the pool and upcoming vacations. The little tassel detail is just too cute. I’m wearing a size medium for reference. I wanted a little extra room so I could continue to wear it through most of my pregnancy. This little tote was also a great addition to my bag family. It’s the perfect little bag for the pool or the beach. I love the colors of the tassels. They will go perfectly with so many swimsuits this summer. I never go to the beach or pool without a huge floppy hat. The older I get the less I like the sun on my face especially so I always feel better with lots of sunscreen and my hat. Forever 21 has so many cute hat options for really reasonable prices. You don’t have to spend a lot to dress cute at the pool. Do you have any fun getaways or vacations planned? What are your beach or pool essentials?
We went to Palm Springs for my birthday weekend and the drive there is seriously one of my favorite parts. It’s about a 2 hour drive from San Diego and my hubby and I always like to take the scenic way through the mountains. The roads are so windy and it’s so much fun to stop and snap some pics and have fun in the car just being together. Getting there is always half the fun on vacations and what better way to travel than with your best friend! There is a lookout spot on the mountains maybe 20-30 minutes outside of Palm Springs. We stop here every time just to take in the gorgeous view and grab some pics. I love it!
For the ride out it was chilly in San Diego but was supposed to get up to 100 degrees that same day in Palm Springs. I decided to finally wear this cold shoulder top I picked up a few weeks ago. I’m so bad about waiting forever to wear things once I buy them. Unfortunately it looks like this exact top is sold out online right now but I have seen it in my local store very recently. I also found almost an exact one online for the same price! It can be dressed up or down and is so comfy. Especially now that I am pregnant I like tops a little bit looser on my belly. I picked up these shorts recently at Express and love them! I went up a size so I could wear them for a little longer but they would fit pretty true to size. They are currently 30% off too! I will be wearing both all spring and summer long!
Oh my gosh! This little spring dress is everything! Off the shoulder dresses and tops are so huge right now and I just can’t get enough of them. This light blue color is so pretty for spring and summer too. I’m typically not a huge pastel girl, I prefer more bold colors, but I’ve been looking for a dress like this for quite some time now. Express has a huge selection of spring and summer dresses and I always find a lot of great outfits there. I’m wearing a size small for reference but I probably could have gone down to the extra small as this one is still a little big. I wanted to keep the focus of my outfit on the dress and wear very neutral sandals and bag. These Tory Burch sandals are one of my favorite most recent purchases. I’ve actually been wanting a pair of Millers for years but just couldn’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on sandals. However, I realized over the years that cheap sandals really only last one season before you have to replace them so I decided to take the plunge and get these so I could enjoy them all spring and summer long. And I may or may not have also gotten black (I know, I’m bad!). Are you obsessed with the off the shoulder trend right now?
Have you stocked up on spring and summer must haves yet from the HUGE ShopBop friends and family sale? Today is the last day to take advantage of 25% most items. Just use code INTHEFAM at checkout! Of course certain designers are excluded but there are still a ton of goodies that rarely go on sale. I’ve rounded up my top favorites that are left. Items are going fast so jump on yours while they are still on sale!
1 Bandit shorts– These are the must have shorts of the summer. They are super cute and flattering and always sell out fast! Grab them while you can ladies!
2 Bandit shorts– This is another super cute pair of bandit shorts in another cut and color.
3 Karen Walker sunglasses– These sunnies rarely go on sale and are the perfect addition to a spring wardrobe
4 Rebecca Minkoff studded sandals– These sandals are on my wishlist! Actually, I’m really holding out for the Valentino rockstuds but these are a much more affordable option in the meantime, and for an additional 25% off they are hard to pass up!
5 Beach coverup– A cute beach cover up is the perfect accessory for any beach vacation or time at the pool! This one is just adorable with the little tassels on the back. Most colors have already sold out but there are a few left.
6 Raybans– There are very few Raybans left but the color of these would just be perfect for the beach! Raybans are always one of the top items to sell out. I missed the boat on a few pairs I was eyeing so if you want them better grab them while you can.
7 Rebecca Minkoff tote– How adorable is this little pink bag! The color would be just perfect for summer! This bag is one of my top picks for sure!
8 Blank Denim ripped denim– These are hands down my favorite jeans ever! I wear them all-the-time! I actually got mine last year at the ShopBop sale and they are one of my favorite purchases ever! Don’t miss out on these ladies!
9 Clare V clutch– This is another one of my favorite purchases ever! I got this clutch last year at the ShopBop sale and I just love it! It goes with absolutely everything and is a timeless piece. This is another item that never goes on sale so if you’ve been thinking about it you need to get it while you can!
10 Ripped denim– My last pick is another pair of ripped denim. This pair has more subtle rips and the color is a little darker. You can never have too many pairs of jeans and at 25% off it’s the perfect time to stock up!
I am so obsessed with the off the shoulder trend right now! These tops are so comfy and look so flattering on everyone! I actually found this one on a clearance rack at Zara a few months ago. I couldn’t wait for our weather to warm up a bit so I could finally wear it. Of course I’m wearing it with ripped denim since that’s all I seem to want to wear on the weekends but it would also look super cute with denim shorts or skirt. I wore a fedora just to add a little more casual California vibe but you could easily dress it up as well with a cute pair of heels. I’d like to pick up a few more tops and dresses before summer. Are you a fan of the off the shoulder trend?
JACKET: TopShop | BOOTS: Stuart Weitzman, cheaper option HERE (50% off! Only $75!) | JEANS: ShopBop (favorite jeans!) | TOP: Express (buy 1 get 1 50% off!) | CLUTCH: Clare V | SUNNIES: Raybans | WATCH: Burberry | RINGS: BaubleBar & Revolve
Hi babes! I’m so excited to share two of my favorite recent purchases with you today! I’m calling them “wardrobe investments” because that’s really what they are. I don’t typically spend this much on only one or two pieces in my closet but some pieces are worth the investment instead of buying cheaper pieces over and over again through the years.
I have been lusting over these Stuart Weitzman boots for far too long! I finally broke down and cashed in all my Christmas gift cards and then some to finally call them mine. I am so thankful I finally did. They are so comfortable and the perfect heel height too. They are very fitted to the leg but I like that because they stay up and I feel like they are very flattering on too. I’m tall, about 5’7, and sometimes I have trouble finding over the knee boots that actually fall over the knee on me. These fit like a glove and I love where they fall on the leg. They look so cute with ripped denim but will also be really nice going into spring with dresses and skirts. They really are worth the investment ladies.
This TopShop leather jacket is another piece I have had my eye on for quite some time. I have been looking for the perfect leather jacket since the beginning of fall! I just couldn’t find the perfect style and fit until I found this one at Nordstrom. I really lucked out and was able to get the jacket for 40% off during the winter clearance sale! There was only one left on the rack, in my size, it was just meant to be! I have seen a lot of faux leather jackets that are cute but I don’t know how they will hold up long term so I wanted to invest in a nice piece that I could have through the years. I’m obsessed with anything TopShop too. What are your favorite investment pieces?
JEANS: ShopBop (favorite jeans ever!) | TOP: old, similar HERE or HERE | SHOES: Vince Camuto | BAG: ShopBop, Clare V, cheaper option HERE | SUNNIES: Rayban, oversized aviators | WATCH: Burberry | RINGS: Revolve & BaubleBar
I am still so obsessed with these ripped jeans from ShopBop! I just can’t get enough of them! They are so soft and comfy and are always my go to jeans in the evenings or on the weekends. Unfortunately I can’t wear ripped jeans at work or you would probably see me wearing them a lot more haha! I especially love pairing the jeans with neutral clothes or shoes with some sort of pop of color or print. Since I went with a blush color top and my favorite little open toe booties from Nordstrom, I added a little pop of print with my clutch. I got this clutch from the huge ShopBop sale around the holidays and I absolutely love it! If you’ve wanted to invest in a good clutch you will have for years to come, THIS is the one. If it’s a little too much to spend right now THIS is a great alternative from Gray Monroe. Happy Shopping!
Wow! How is it already March? It’s actually felt like spring in San Diego the last few weeks with the unusually warm weather we’ve been having lately. My hubby and I have been making it a habit on the weekend to have a coffee date at our local Starbucks. Sometimes its nice to just get out of the house and spend some quality time together and enjoy the weather. Instead of my usual cappuccino I opted for one of my other favorites, Very Berry Hibiscus. So yummy and refreshing!
I still try to dress for the season even when it’s a little warmer than usual. I just picked up these jeans from Express at the President’s Day sale for 40% off. They are super comfy and stretchy. You can never have too many pairs of black jeans. I also opted for my favorite little booties I got recently from Nordstrom. I have been wearing these non stop. They are so comfy and go with everything. This is my favorite kind of outfit…. a lot of classic pieces all wrapped into one. How do you like to spend your weekends?
JEANS: American Eagle (old) similar HERE | TOP: Nordstrom (currently sold out) similar HERE (currently 40% off!) | BOOTIES: ShopBop (50% off too!) | BAG: Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM | NECKLACE: H&M (old) similar HERE (only $5!) | SUNNIES: Rayban (oversized aviators)
Hi babes and happy Fri-yay! One thing I really look forward to on the weekends is being able to dress how I want. I know it sounds silly but I really do look forward to that. There’s nothing better than throwing on a comfy pair of ripped jeans, an oversized top and some comfy booties to run around and get errands done. I can’t wear ripped denim to work during the week so I’m always wearing them every chance I get on the weekends.
I actually picked up this top recently at the Nordstrom Winter Clearance Sale. Unfortunately it’s currently showing sold out on the website, but keep checking back as you never know, it may get restocked. I found a similar one though for 40% off. I actually wanted to order a size large for a more oversized fit but large was sold out so I got a medium and I’m really happy with the fit. These booties are still my all time favorites as they are super comfy and go with everything! They are 50% right now and come in black too! Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
Hi loves and happy Friday! Finally getting around to sharing this little casual edgy look from a few weeks ago. I got so many compliments on this outfit and it’s very easy to throw together. Weekend looks are my absolute favorite. The weather is kind of crazy in SoCal lately. One week it’s super cold, the next week it feels like summer. An outfit like this is a good transition between the two. I’m not ready to pull out the sandals yet and I think booties look so cute with dresses and skirts. Adding a flannel around the waist just ties them together and adds a little color to the look. I went with a red lip to pull some more color into the look but depending on the color flannel you use you could go with a darker lip or even a smokey eye if you’re not a fan of a bold lip. I’m also doing a pattern mix adding my favorite leopard clutch to the mix. This bag seriously goes with everything! If you don’t have a leopard clutch yet you should really add one to your wardrobe. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hi babes! Hard to believe Valentine’s Day is just around the corner already! Still not sure what to wear for the perfect night out? How about this gorgeous dress from Shabby Apple! I was so excited when they sent me this beauty! I knew it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day with my love. I absolutely love the color. It’s so bright and fun and the fit is very flattering. It’s fitted at the top and loose on the bottom, plus the dress is long enough for us tall girls even in heels. I’m pairing this dress with one of my favorite nude heels and a fun statement necklace to add a little bling. I’m keeping everything pretty simple as the dress is bold itself. There’s still time to get this dress before Valentine’s Day. I have a direct link below and it’s on sale right now for less than $65! You will love it as much as I do!
Hi loves! As you can tell I love wearing lots of fun colors in my outfits, but I also love the basics. Having a few staple pieces in your wardrobe allows you to mix and match and create so many more outfits. Black jeans are a must in every wardrobe. They are so easy to dress up or dress down and look great on everyone. Same with a denim jacket. You can wear these year round with black jeans, white jeans, distressed jeans, colored shorts, dresses, the list goes on and on. You will get your money’s worth trust me.
Today I’m pairing these wardrobe staples with a simple white tee, my favorite neutral booties and a bold clutch and necklace. These booties and clutch I got from ShopBop a few months ago at their huge annual sale and I wear them both all the time. They are both worth the investment. This outfit is one I will wear again and again through the the rest of winter and into spring. What are your favorite wardrobe staples?
SWEATER DRESS: sold out online Forever 21 (similar here) still available in select stores though! | SCARF: Zara old, (similar here) | BOOTS: sold out, (similar here) | BOOT SOCKS: target | BAG: Louis Vuitton neverfull | LIP PENCIL: MAC color Half Red
Hi loves! Today I wanted to share my love of sweater dresses! They are seriously so comfy and versatile! You can get so much use out of them in fall, winter and even through spring. I love this cable knit cream one from Forever 21. I actually got it a few months back so unfortunately it’s not showing on the website anymore. I have seen it in my local Forever 21 store though very recently so if you’re looking for one make sure to check your local store. I also linked a very similar one below.
I decided to pair the sweater dress with my favorite brown riding boots and a cozy blanket scarf. I don’t like wearing thick boot socks but I love the look of it so my trick is to use leg warmers! They work so well and look like you’re wearing thick cozy socks but without all the bulk in your boots. I found these at Target for a great price and I use them all the time with boots to match my cable knit sweaters and now this sweater dress too. This dress does run a bit large. I’m wearing a size small. Hope you like this look and decide to try out a sweater dress for yourself. They are so much fun to wear and you can really do a lot with them. Thanks for reading!
Hi babes! I’m sharing one of my favorite looks from my recent vacation up the California coast. This is the outfit I wore when we explored the beautiful Hearst Castle! More of this part of our trip will be on the blog soon so stay tuned for that. My hubby and I were gone over the holidays so I tried to incorporate lots of red into my outfits to feel as festive as possible. I’m always reaching for this flannel from Old Navy. I seriously wear this more than any other plaid and trust me, I have a bunch! I just love the colors in this flannel and I’m always coming up with new ways to wear it. This time I decided to pair it with a faux fur vest as it was quite chilly outside but I didn’t want to have to wear a big bulky jacket. This faux fur vest is another piece I got this year that I just love. You can dress it up, dress it down, wear it so many different ways! I’ve gotten so much use out of it this season. I always try to invest in timeless pieces such as heels, boots, purses, etc. Clothing tends to come in and out of style more easily and shrinks in the wash or fades. Forever 21 and Old Navy are two of my go to stores where I buy a lot of basic tops and dresses and then add to them. These boots were a great investment last year at the Nordstrom boot sale. They are great quality and the color is timeless. I think adding a red lip to an outfit adds a little edge. I always instantly feel more glamorous just by adding a bold lip. If you haven’t tried pairing your flannel with a faux fur vest you should try it, I know you will love it!
Hello beauties! Can you believe we’re only a few days away from Christmas!? Where has the year gone! December is one of my favorite months of the year. I love shopping for Christmas presents for my family, friends and of course a few things here and there for me, haha. I am so thankful for Sassy Lemon Boutique for sending me this adorable little tee. Anyone who knows me knows I am a true choco-holic! This shirt is so fitting, I just love it! Little basic tee’s like this are so easy to dress up or down and layer with other pieces. I added a black tank underneath just to add a little depth to the gray color of the shirt. The top is cut a little small so I am wearing a size medium. If you are torn between sizes I would size up. I’m loving the length and cut too. This little top would look so cute with some black pumps and a fitted blazer. I’m keeping it casual today with ripped denim and lace up flats. Of course I had to add a red lip for a little pop of color.
If you haven’t checked out Sassy Lemon Boutique (www.sassylemonboutique.com) yet you really should. They have so many cute little tops and dresses for really great prices. I’m so excited to be able to get you $5 off your next order too! Just use code SYDNEY5 at checkout! Thank you for reading babes! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
Hi babes! I always love to experiment with new trends and step out of my comfort zone a little bit trying new looks. It’s just fun! Never take fashion too seriously. It’s all about adding your personal touch to a look that will make it your own. I have seen so many of my favorite bloggers rocking the sleeveless blazer look and I just love it! I found this one at my local Forever 21 store for less than $30. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like they have any on their website right now due to the season but a lot of other places still carry them this time of year. I have linked some other ones below. I try not to spend a lot of money on trendy pieces, I’d rather invest in classics that are more timeless and never go out of style. I’m keeping this look casual with a little edgy vibe to dress it up a bit. It’s amazing what a good pair of ripped denim and a bold statement necklace will do to an outfit. I chose to wear some nude booties to keep the look more casual but you could also wear some black pumps to dress it up some more for work or going out for dinner. Sleeveless blazers also look really cute over a dress. Give them a try, you never know, you may really like the trend as well. Thank you for reading! Have a great rest of your week and bring on the weekend! Can you believe it’s only a week until Christmas!?
Hi friends! Hope you all had a nice relaxing weekend. I spent part of the weekend getting my blanket scarf collection in order. I have been stocking up over the last couple months so I’ll be ready once the cooler weather hits California. Anyone that knows me knows I am completely obsessed with blanket scarves. They really are the perfect fall and winter accessory. You can completely change the look of an outfit by adding a scarf. Plus they can be worn so many different ways you can really change up how you wear them each time. I’ve tried to add lots of color and texture to my collection recently. I’m sharing some of my favorite blanket scarves and where you can find them if you’ve been looking for some for yourself. Grab them while you can, I know a lot of the popular ones sell out fast. Have a great rest of your week!

Hi babes and happy Friday! I don’t know about you but I am just loving this weather cooling down. It’s finally starting to feel like fall in California. The colors of fall are just gorgeous. I love all the burnt oranges and gold tones. I like to pull these same colors found in nature into outfits, especially in the fall. Anyone that knows me knows I am addicted to scarves! Blanket scarves, dress scarves, casual scarves, you name it, I love it! I was so excited to find this scarf at Forever 21 for $12! The color is so pretty and reminds me of all the gorgeous fall foliage. I was even more excited when I found these little booties at Nordstrom Rack which matched perfectly with the scarf! Pair them with some destroyed denim and you have yourself a perfect fall outfit. I’m all about buying key pieces that I can mix and match all different ways. All these pieces can be transitioned very easily to make other looks. Thank you for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend!
Hello and Happy Monday! So hard to believe it’s November already! Where has the year gone?! As the weather is finally starting to cool down a little in California it’s starting to feel like fall…at least on days when it’s not 80 degrees haha. I like to find a lot of transitional pieces that can get me from one season into the next. These destroyed denim jeans from Forever 21 are perfect for this! I have been looking everywhere for really destroyed denim and couldn’t find any at a reasonable price. I ended up finding these for about $30 which was perfect! I’m pairing them with a plain white tee and some cage booties to keep the look light and airy. I’m excited to also wear them with some ankle booties and a loose long sleeve tee…. possibly even a cute beanie and a bold lip when the weather really starts cooling down. It’s so much fun to add a little edge and completely change up an outfit. How do you wear destroyed denim?
I’m so excited to share with you the new look for my blog! I’ve spent so much time redesigning the look and feel. Sometimes you have a vision in your mind that just does not translate well, but that’s ok. Blogging is a new challenge and experience for me and I’m excited to learn new things and grow along the way. I’m sure I will make a million other changes as I go along haha!
Today I’m sharing a round up of my favorite pieces from the Shopbop annual Friends and Family sale! Today is the last day to take advantage of 25% off most items in the store with code INTHEFAM25. Things are selling out fast so grab them while you can ladies! All items above I have either purchased or they are on my wish list. It was hard to narrow down what to get but with a limited budget, some items will just have to wait for later. Happy Shopping!
1- Distressed denim– I LOVE some distressed denim. I have seen these jeans on some of my favorite fashion bloggers for a while now but I just couldn’t pay $88 for them. But at 25% off I had to finally have them!
2- Distressed black denim– These are on my wish list. I wasn’t able to get them this time but they are on my list. There’s something so classic yet edgy about some distressed black denim.
3- Leopard clutch– I was actually able to get the Clare V foldover clutch before it sold out. This flat clutch is super adorable too though! I have had my eye on this bag for a very long time but couldn’t bring myself to spend that much on a clutch. Well at 25% it was calling my name so I had to take the plunge!
4- Tory Burch tote– Although Tory Burch is excluded from the annual sale I had to include this bag in my list. I’ve had this bag for a while now and it’s one of my absolute favorites. This color is so versatile and it’s a very durable bag. Highly recommend!
5- Lace up flats– These are another item on my wish list. They just were not in the budget for me to get this sale but I love them! Lace up flats are so popular right now and you can never go wrong with animal print.
6- Rayban aviators– I have a few pair of Raybans and they are my favorite sunnies. These colored ones are just too cute! I want all three!
7- Suede booties– I have been wanting some suede booties for a while now but just couldn’t find the right style. These are just perfect! They will look so adorable with dresses or jeans.
8- Hunter boots– These are another item that unfortunately are not included in the Friends and Family sale but I had to include them because I love my Hunters so much! I have 3 pairs but the red are my favorite. They are a wardrobe staple for the winter months that are coming up.
9- Moto jacket– I’m on the hunt for a vegan leather moto jacket. This one from Free People is just perfect! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get it during this sale, but I’d like to get it over the next couple months.
Hi! I am so excited to be sharing this beautiful maxi dress from @ShopPinkBlush. I am just in love with the color and print of this dress. It really is the perfect summer dress! If you haven’t checked out Pink Blush online you need to. They have so many cute clothes at really great prices. This maxi does run a little large so if you are torn between sizes I would go with the smaller of the two. I am wearing a size small. I chose to style this dress with a bold clutch and a basic gold necklace and sandals. I didn’t want to take away from the print with too many accessories. I think it would look really cute with a jeans jacket or vest or even a lightweight cardigan when the weather starts cooling down. I am beyond pleased with everything I’ve received recently from Pink Blush and can’t wait to wear the rest of my new items. Happy Shopping!

Hi! It’s been so long since I’ve posted on my blog. Sometimes life gets in the way and it’s just easier to post a quick pic on Instagram. I am trying to be more consistent with my posts from now on. We have family visiting this week so it’s the perfect time to get out an enjoy our beautiful city of San Diego. Temecula is one of my favorite places to go. The wineries are so gorgeous. I love South Coast Winery and Danza del Sol. If you love wine South Coast Winery has the absolute best Merlot Rose! It’s a must try!
I decided to wear a lightweight yellow dress from Forever 21 for wine tasting. This dress is so versatile and perfect for summer and less than $20. I wore it with some sparkly flat sandals and a neutral clutch. I love wearing this dress with a jeans jacket or vest too. I’m pretty tall so I can only wear this type of dress with flats, but it would also look cute with some wedges for summer. I tried to link the same dress below but Forever 21 changes their clothes so often I couldn’t find the exact one. I did link a very similar option as well as similar sandals from Target. Thank you so much for stopping by and hope everyone is having a fun summer!
I love spending a Saturday night in with a glass of wine going through vacation pictures. It’s so much fun to look back on pictures and remember all the fun adventures we had. I’m very lucky to say this was my second time back to Shanghai. This city is amazing and huge! The closest city I can compare it to is New York City…. only so much bigger and so many more people. There are highrises as far as you can see in every direction. Shanghai is for sure a vertical city. We stayed at the JW Marriott in the Huangpu District near People’s Square. This location was perfect for sightseeing around the city. There is a metro stop a block away that takes you anywhere in the city in minutes. The metros in China are extremely clean and cheap and is the main way to get around the city. Taxis are also very cheap to get around although traffic can be really bad during rush hour.
Springtime in Shanghai was so beautiful. There were gorgeous flowers everywhere around the city. We tried to experience new things on this trip including the World Financial Center observation deck on the 100th floor and the Yu Garden in the center of Shanghai’s Old City. Hard to believe these beautiful gardens are over 400 years old. If you’ve ever thought about visiting Asia I would highly recommend Shanghai. This city is very easy for Americans to get around as most people in the restaurants and hotels speak a little bit of English. There is so much history in this city and the people are very friendly. Shanghai is the perfect example of East meets West. I can’t wait for my next trip back! Thanks for reading!
What a perfect day for my very first blog post! For anyone that knows me on Instagram knows I love a good style challenge and my girl @shannonsa has the absolute best style challenges. Today’s style challenge just happens to be denim and white so these pics from my vacation in Shanghai, China seemed very fitting.
This chambray top from Old Navy is one of my favorite pieces. It goes with everything and can be dressed up or down very easily with heels or flats. I usually wear it with my white jeans but it also goes with colored jeans, tied over top a dress, or unbuttoned over a tank with shorts in the summer. In this case I paired the outfit with some leopard flats to add a print and some bold lips for a pop of color. This shade of MAC in “damn glamorous” is my absolute favorite.
Thank you stopping by to read my first blog post. I appreciate it so much! Look forward to sharing more outfit ideas and building my blog. Have a great rest of your week!
